As a lifelong non-smoker I well remember going to smoke-filled pubs and so I know how much nicer pubs are now for the majority who don’t smoke.

I hear ya! It’s so much nicer not smelling like an ashtray, and sitting there with my eyes stinging and my asthma triggered all for the sake of having a beer with someone who wants to smoke, and knowing I can take my children out and about without them inhaling other peoples smoke.

This is a touchy subject for me this year anyway as I lost my dad to lung cancer in feb and my gran is terminal with it too at the moment… we are basically waiting for her to die… both former smokers and gran in particular was a barmaid in working man clubs all her adult life so the amount of passive smoking she must have done.. so as far as am concerned its a mugs game – and PB if that makes me an anti-smoking facist so be it! It’s a selfish, anti-social and disgusting habit.

It just shows that a lot of people value wrecking their lungs with toxic smoke more than they value watching football.

freedom of choice used to be wonderful, now it’s do as your told.

you still have a choice… sit in a warm smoke free pub or step outside into the freezing night (more often than not) and smoke..

    it works for me!

    will..

D day was the day that the allies began to claim back France from the Germans in the 2nd ww by a surprise invasion from the sea… by storming the beaches in Normandy

not to be confused with V E day which happened almost a year later on may 8th when the allies claimed total victory all through Europe and that was followed by the Japanese surrender in August 1945 thus bringing the war to a close..

Am glad my A level history was good for something at last!

The ppl who voted BNP probably don’t realise the true implications of their vote… UKIP would have been a better option surely?

That said… Everyone who slated the labour government seem to have been fast to forget the state the Tories left the country in the last time around…

I was a child of the Thatcher era, and that woman did as much damage to the economy in the 80s as any labour government that has followed..

I grew up eating mince, burgers and sausages coz of her… in a time when CJD was rife… Yes am a mad cow!! And the bi tch stole my free school milk!!! How very rude!

ok I can kinda relate to this post.

I live in a very multicultural town and very often the billboards here that show women skantily clad, or advertise gambling etc are daubed with paint to hide what some minorities find ‘offensive’ to their culture..

some examples.. Mecca bingo – firebombed coz of its name, wonderbra ad – daubed with paint so you could not see the girl, watch advert daubed with paint coz it showed a womans wrist..

so as for advertising sex… i can imagine it would not go down too well in a sector of the society in my town

    speaking of jeremy kyle..

i saw his program for the first time in ages during half term and the heading of the show was…

‘ my ex moved too far away for me to see my kids’

in my wisdom i thought they must have gone north to south etc or something like that

turns out she moved 15 miles away

    wtf???????
