The main organiser of the protests is Linda Sarsour, she has recently made public statements that women’s rights in the US should be made parallel to the version of Sharia practiced in Saudi Arabia.

This is not something that is mentioned in news media coverage of the protests, what do you think about it?

Take care that Chump doesn’t make a grab for it, Sophia – he may be short-sighted

It is very worrying to me how easily people can be manipulated into blindly promoting ideological propaganda.

At least it didn’t turn into another American political long drawn out thread B-)   He’d best be short sighted as id kick him where he wouldn’t show his mother! they would end up lodged in his nostrils. excuse me I am doing my nails.

So it doesn’t concern you at all that the major protest against a democratically elected leader is being directed by a fundemantalist muslim, one that wants Sharia to take precedence over US law?

What she wants is far worse than anything Trump would do.

No! and fk all I can do about it. I am not even going to give an opinion. I will say one thing-these type of posts should be deleted as they don’t go anywhere.

    #1020220

They should be deleted because you don’t agree with it?

That is a very dangerous attitude to take.

Personally, I think the only thing these protests will do is give Trump a second term.

I don’t think it’s Linda Sarsour who is inspiring the march, I have a feeling that the march was going to happen regardless. I feel like the pussy-grabbing statement is making people scared of human emotions, when in fact civil people don’t really act on feelings. I’d rather someone who says they hate someone or say they don’t care than someone like Hitler or the Nazi party who always believed, even to themselves, that they loved everyone and had their best interests in mind when obviously they hated people. It’s definitely interesting that people voted for someone who was honest and morally trusted themselves and others even though it was comparatively controversial and ‘out-of-the-box,’ but that’s exactly the kind of creative freedom and optimism that makes him clever in relationships. I still kind of feel like it doesn’t legitimize mirroring controversial and out-of-the-box words with actions and using an overwhelming crowd of millions to spread wrong statements and diverting attention from a ceremony that the republicans have typically been tame about. I feel like Obama was a really good speech-giver who kept words on social media immaculate, who to be honest had a liberal media support as well, and Bush used humor and goofyness as a way to show he could be trusted and I think Trump uses honesty about what everyone secretly thinks and feels with words and doesn’t always have supporters who are trying to make him look bad by doing things like recording private conversations because he’s rich and famous, etc.

I mean it’s kind of cool to revisit that era in American history and talk about it and in a fun way learn something about gender differences in the social context, I just wish it wasn’t in a way that seems to punish Trump, though. I feel like love isn’t about punishing, it’s about morals and not listening to our inner animal/cannibal in our primitive selves. I feel like there are great sophisticated morals like valuing life, liberty, openness in knowledge, communicating feelings, trusting people with freedoms, expecting people to be smart enough to take care of themselves, being optimistic without jealousy, not being curious about people too much and really only paying attention to the goodness in people.
