The text message compeled him to do it?

I wish I lived in this magical fantasy universe that other people seem to sometimes.

I don’t know the exact details of this case, but he probably killed himself because he was mentally ill. Of course the bully bares some responsiblity in agitating it, but his parents also failed to identify the state of his health.

A healthy person would just block the number and carry on with their life.

A story of a precious young life needlessly ended short for no real reason other than pointless bullying…

The online world and the monster post-capitalist corporations who dominate, the likes of Facebook and Twitter etc, has demonstrated it is incapable of policing itself to the point that children and adults are sadly taking their own lives after being targeted and bullied and even democracy itself is now being manipulated during elections when voters are targeted by fake news and illegal political adverts and eventually politicians will quite rightly step in with more rigorous legislation.

British children in surveys are among the unhappiest in the world and it is not just a case of “switching” off their computer or phone to avoid bullies when technology is such a vital tool and part of a young persons life today. Online predators and bullies/trolls are like wild animals hiding behind the anonymity of their computer screens, preying on the weak in packs and sadly I fear this situation will get far worse before it is seriously tackled.

Pupils in the UK are among the least happy in the world, according to new data released by the influential Pisa (Programme for International Student Assessment) survey today.

Draculina I don’t think you can simply put it down to “a healthy person would have blocked the number and carried on with life”. You are talking about someone who has to attend school with this person, knows everyone they hang with, see’s them in a mall etc, you make it sound so easy… And so what if he was disturbed, that still made it ok for someone to drive him over the edge!

Regarding the parents, they are at no fault, they only hear what they need to hear, thousands of parents wake up to find their kids dead from suicide not knowing anything was ever wrong.

Drac… It isn’t as simple as just blocking the number. He saw these people every day, the bullying was relentless.

Your comment that he was probably mentally ill is kinda silly, are you saying only mentally ill people commit suicide? Even if he was mentally ill, it is still a tragic example of just how deeply being bullied can affect someone.

As for his parents “failing to identify the state of his health” ..

Did you never keep secrets from your parents?

My heart breaks for that poor boy and his family, I hope the bullies see his face all the ti.e, hope they never know a moments peace

This is true, but I was responding more the the title of the shared video, which claims the text mesage caused him to commit suicide.

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. It is not a normal behaviour.

Parents are responsible for both the physical and mental health of their child, i’m not sure why this would be a contraversial statement.

In regards to keeping secrets, I wasn’t at home enought to even speak to them for the most part. I would describe them as being bad parents for creating an environment that I didn’t want to be in. I’m not sure how any of this is relevant though.

I am very familiar with bullying, it really is that easy. There are far larger problems in life to deal with than what people people think about you or say to you.

And so what if he was disturbed, that still made it ok for someone to drive him over the edge!

He commited suicide entirely by his own free will. He was not forced to, that would be murder, not a suicide.

Social media sites allow you to block indivudual users without affecting your ability to continue to use the site normally.

The issues are beyond just what people said to him, the documentary explains it, it was physical too, but you will have a random explanation for that too… To be honest, at the end of the day, no bully = no death, no matter what you say… If that kid was left alone to live his life he would be alive today no matter what way you like to twist things around…

I don’t see how you can come to this conclusion. He wouldn’t have commited suicide at that exact time, sure. But he may have at a later date due to exam pressure, or any other number of reasons. Or he may never have done as you suggested. It’s impossible to predict what would happen if there were undelying mental health issues.

Drac… It isn’t easy for some not to care what others think, especially when its your peers that you are surrounded with. The whole point about bullying is that the bullies prey on those they perceive as weaker and when it is persistent it can be very difficult to ignore.

That poor lad was so desperately psychologically beaten he felt death was better. Bullying has a deep, far reaching effect.
