That’s what the Horses are bred for though.. They’re bred to race. No-one at the races sees that as cruel, they just see their Investment plummet.

5 April, 2009 at 11:51 am #394337I am not sure as to the truth of this but they say that the horse would refuse if it didn’t want to do it. I watched the Grand National through squinted eyes yesterday with my heart in my mouth. It is tragic that some horses die but equally so in other sports for example in another thread you (tictax) mention snaring fish and going rabbiting but lets face it they could both be looked upon as cruel if you want to be pedantic.

people are aware of what will happen and know the risks
horses don’t.
I have not bet on the grand national for years for this reason7 April, 2009 at 12:39 pm #394341@pete wrote:

not if theyre makkems
but you are correct. people die jumping out of planes, into rivers, and off cliffs. but they have a choice. animals dont. murder, for sport is wrong. horse racing isnt murder its a fantastic life for a horse. there will always be injuries, but they are not deliberate. therefore i.m.o horse racing is’nt cruel.
the men who design the fences however !!!7 April, 2009 at 5:35 pm #394342The horses wouldnt even exist without the racing
