It is sad Jenny. Iv’e said on other threads and for a long time now, that in cases such as this, the women, unjustly, walk away without a scratch. They should at the very least, be charged with wasting police time, invariably though, they don’t.
I hope your freind recovers his good will in time

“would not be considered for parole for atleast 5 years and 108 days”.
Do you EVER imagine the pain and anguish family members go through when the above happens?
Why do you vote for a society that doesnt punish evil?
Parliament make the laws and set down minimum and maximum sentences. Judges are answerable to no one. Parliament and it’s MP’s should be answerable to the people who put them in power, well that’s supposed to be the idea anyway, but as you and the rest of the country know Emma, it don’t always add up :roll:Another thing I saw this morning, on BBC news. A woman, an american woman, i’m sorry but I can never remember her name, but she’s been a huge campaigner in removing anyone who would be a danger to children in school, ie., peadophiles, sexual offenders etc etc. She’s been responsible for a lot of good work that’s subsequently been set in place.
She said that although she’s been here now for over 30 years, in her country, the US, Judges are ”elected” and they’re directly answerable to the public who vote them in. In cases such as this ‘Sweeney’ one, the general populace would be screaming for a life sentence, and life in the states means life, your carried out in a box. If the judges in America, were to act the way judges in this country do, they’d be out on their a@ses!!!
She said that perhaps it’s time this country changed to the same kind of system. I think that maybe she has a point!!
13 June, 2006 at 2:49 pm #224491What really baffles me in cases like this is where the judge in the case, states life, then says that he’ll be eligible for parole in a little over 5 years time. 5 years isn’t life, so why then do they use this term.
Matthew Wright …….on channel 5’s the Wrightstuff, this morning, said that although he’d be eligible for parole in 5 and a bit years, doesn’t mean he’d get it. He did last time though didn’t he!! This animal was just over 2 weeks OFF license, where he didn’t have to report in and went on to commit this despicable crime, which lets not forget, will live with the child in question for the rest of HER! life……. Another thing they discussed on the show was that being unable to lock up these people for the rest of their lives, and the fact that it’s an illness, and they can’t help themselves, see this kind of action as ”normal” then maybe the answer would be for them to be ”chemically castrated”, this in itself would at least take away any sexual desires they may have and hopefully stopping known peadophiles like this one from committing any further acts such as this. If this isn’t done, to this man in particular, when and if in 5 + years time he’s parolled, it wont be long before he’s re-arrested, because he WILL!!! do it again, he’s already proved that. The next time tho, he may well go further, and commit murder to cover his tracks!!!

Just shoot the bstrds and have done with it – end of story – cost – a couple of bullets
Lock em up for life – how much is that gonna cost ????
When I first saw this post, I have to admit that I had a knee jerk reaction and was all for it. But…….having read Geoffs post also, I have to say he has a point. I’m sorry if you think i’m a namby pamby whatever, but i’m not.
Lamby said the same thing too. Lock them up 23 hours a day, solitary confinement, no priveleges etc etc, only thing they have to do all day is think, and that can’t harm anyone. The system they’re in now allows them *perks* so to speak. Access to the internet, tv’s, playstations, and you know what else Drivel? these nonces are allowed to have things like *Mothercare* magazines sent in to them!!!! and it’s time it all stopped.
As for the cost…….Like I said, as someone who was once all for stringing them up. What price a life then? I’d much rather know that these vile individuals are locked up for the rest of their days, and suffering every single day of it.

What you mean is, you cant reply with words which defend your stance.
You are giving up, that is a start.
Maybe your not cut out for adult chat.
I think maybe Emma, before you accuse someone else of not being ‘cut out’ for adult chat, you should perhaps decline from the endless name calling of pple who don’t agree with you. Me and Mr B have crossed swords at times, but I don’t think either one of us has resorted to name calling. We had an ‘adult’ discussion about something, we didn’t agree, but as adults, didn’t resort to playground fodder either, least I hope not [-X5 June, 2006 at 3:53 pm #222626ooops

5 June, 2006 at 2:34 pm #223589I think their problem PB is that they’ve precious little to do with their lives other than to be an ambassador for these terrorists. I wonder if they’d feel the same if it was a member of their own family who’d died as a result, or left disabled, traumatised etc etc., I remember the days of Lord Longford and his continual bleating that Myra Hindley should be freed, that she’d served her sentence, paid her debt to society  tell that to the families of those who were murdered
No i’m with you on this one, any terrorist, if and when caught, deserves everything he/she gets. They show no compassion for their victims, so therefore why should any be shown to them. Let them reap what they sow.
