I agree cath, life should mean life… no release for good behaviour, no putting them in open prisons so they can escape…. in prison until they die.

But….. we need a petition or something that we can sign and not something that is emailed round the world forever, a proper one that someone can print out and send in to the Prime Minister or the Home Secretary or .. hmm who should we send it to?

Ok, I’m not making this clear I dont think ……..

    1. we all agree on what we want changed, it cant be several things because i think it wont hold weight.

    2. if we all agree that one of the things we would like to see is that life should mean life for all child abusers , or certainly for those who kill children then thats the one we should use

    3. once agreed we all start our own petition to change the sentences of life meaning life ets then we ourselves go out into our own little corner of our part of the world with the petition and get as many signatures as we can

    4. once we have each gotten our petition together for whatever change we coordinate to ensure that our petitions reach the prime minister or 10 downing street at the same time, i have suggested 1st March 2010

does that make sense? its hard to get across sometimes on here and i fear i may have confused some people

I keep on being drawn back to the inescapable fact, that in the majority of cases (NOT all cases) it is the parents – or their partners – who are primarily responsible for the awful things that children suffer, as we see almost weekly in the Media.

No amount of ‘vigilante justice’ etc seems to provide a way of actually preventing this. Reacting AFTER the event yes – but stopping parents (or relatives for that matter) from abusing their own kith & kin, no.

I agree totally Pb, but how many times have we said 7 years!!!! 18 months!!!! let them rot!!!! so, for those that are caught let life for instance mean life, maybe even a news black out on anything they do to avoid the relatives of those taken or horrifically abused having the names of the abusers shoved in their faces on a regular basis, let them rot, lets not hear anythng about them etc? When I say those who shout the loudest, the what can we do statements, well maybe we can change just one thing…….maybe we can change the judicial sentences for these people ? at least we will have tried?

Such is not life tho PB , have you never heard the saying them that shout loudest? see my other thread x

ok so my suggestion is life should mean life for child abusers

I would gladly sign anything , if it would help. xx

the idea is rubes that we all say what we want to happen to these people, then pick the ones that we know can be done, we all know we cant have these people vigilante style, then, each of us take the agreed suggestions i.e , life mean life, longer sentences etc

then we all make our own petitions iwith the agreed changes as above in our own little corners where we live and each of us get a signed petition with as many names as we can each.

then, we all agree to send them to 10 downing street to arrive on March 1st?

I like Pete’s direct approach to ‘paedophiles’ …. BANG !! – game over!!!

The only snag is – what if the person isn’t a paedophile???

If, for example, you were a Sun reader, then you’d have topped your local Paediatrician.

PB? I think we are all guilty of the voice of ‘reason’ , we then have to think deeply, and honestly and closer to home, you have a small daughter PB , I have 2 daughters, what would WE do if it was one of our own?

im with pete on this my cousins son was murdered aged 2 in 87 and i,d willingly kill the bast rd evn if it ment i lost my own liberty ( the mothers new bf did it )RIP carl

I have to say I am with you tactax, If anyone had touched either of my 2 girls, as soft as I am I would have had justice for either of them, even as you say I lost my own liberty that would not matter……..

Day after day, we seem to hear another human being has been murdered by another , yes people who are supposed to be close to them, be they adults or children, of course children all our hearts go out to them, those of us that are parents, cannot comprehend how anyone could committ such attrocities to children, there are equally adults, mainly women who are murdered too at the hands of their partners, what I would just like to say, is that sod the people that committ these acts, please please for the most part remember the people that are left behind.

one of my freinds had her daughter murdered by her violent husband, she now not only lives with the fear that this man who is now free will come round and exact some sort of revenge on them, but, fears for their grandaughter who it was found had been abused later on in years and has never gotten over it will cope.

Its so heartbreaking that children are on a daily basis being subjected to the most horrific abuse and their perpertrators getting namby pamby sentences and so called rehabilitation Rubes said something earlier, yes rubes i hurt too for these children as do many other, so maybe that hurt should be channelled in too something positive?

we can change laws, we can move the powers that be if enough of us speak up, tell them, let them know, in the time it takes to post on these message boards our disgust and horror we could have lobbied our mp’s to presurise a change in the law for anyone who harms a child………….

I meant of course when she was small, and, I think most of it was due to the fact I was the one at home and he was the one with the job he worked around the clock virtually, he was a lorry, it was 30 years ago when lorry drivers did work round the clock.
