Melech, I think these people are paid to be awkward. Slightly different set of circumstances, but here’s my experience:
I phoned one of these Sky TV auction channels to place a bid, which was accepted. Half an hour, they phoned me back.
‘Can I have your name?’ he asked. Now, I don’t wish to sound bigoted, but personally I’d rather speak to somebody I can understand and who can understand me. Hope I’m not alone in this.
‘I actually intended to input my account number and must have pressed the wrong number. Can I just give you that number? Only it’s getting late and it’d be quicker and more convenient for me’ I replied.
‘Can I have your name?’
‘I have an account number I can give you’
‘Can I have your name?’ and so it went on.
Eventually, he relented and accepted my account number and all was well. Until, and again I don’t wish to sound bigoted, he closed the conversation with super speed indian accent talking which I didn’t understand and got the impression that I never would no matter how many times I asked him to repeat. All I know is that he asked me to confirm something so after a quick ‘Yeah, that’s fine’ I was off to bed!
Now I just do it all online!
