I enjoy Corned Beef; there I’ve said it. I’ve tried most but I like Fray Bentos the best Libby’s had too many knobbly bits for me.
The easiest way to avoid loosing a finger with the key opening method is to use a can opener; the type that opens by cutting the lid off horizontally are best. If you open both ends you can push it through without mishap.
My sister tried to put me off it when I was a kid by telling me how they made it. I never listened to her but you make your own mind up as I did.
She told me that they take thickly cut beef sandwiches to an old folks homes and collected the partially masticated remains a few days later.
