Toleration of religion is one of the key freedoms for which our fathers and grandfathers fought, and for which many gave their lives. Freedom to worship God in your own way, and freedom not to worship God, are the keystones of what I regard as a civilised society.
Make the most of them, as I predict they will soon be banished.
You can google away on “wikiepedia” to your hearts content
You can google away on your .gov.uk to your hearts content, I’m afraid you can’t convince me (and not just me) that I’m safe to take my Bible with me to Saudi Arabia.
You can also not convince me that the Mutaween (religious police) will not apply Sharia law upon me.

I don’t suppose the British Government is in any rush to publish this on the link Ge provided.
Question the reliability and credibility of wikipedia all you like. We can go in and amend anything we believe to be wrong. You can’t do that on .gov.uk
The .gov.uk foreign travel advise page is aimed at muslims. I don’t have a figure, but I will stick my neck on the line and say 90% of Brits travelling to Saudi Arabia are muslims, what with Hajj and all that. Maybe even as high as 98 or 99%. Just a specualtion.

According to wikipedia’s page on Freedom of Religion in Saudi Arabia,
Religious freedom is virtually non-existent. The Government does not provide legal recognition or protection for freedom of religion, and it is severely restricted in practice. As a matter of policy, the Government guarantees and protects the right to private worship for all, including non-Muslims who gather in homes for religious practice; however, this right is not always respected in practice and is not defined in law.
Banned or forbidden, either way, I’m not taking my Bible with me.

firstly its not a small minority that have views incompatible with western life
Holding antiquated views is not an offence (unfortunately) but actions are. Chopping heads off on Westminster Bridge IS an action and an offence. I did specify actions not views.
Sometimes it’s perfectly natural to punish the majority because of the outrageous actions of a small minority. I gave two examples above. Here’s another.
Remember when you were at school and the whole class got punished with detention because 2 or 3 were unruly and disruptive and failed to heed the warning. That’s how it worked in my school. The remaining 20 odd “good kids” took it on ourselves to fix the problem so it didn’t keep happening.
The thing is Dan most grown ups understand that the VAST majority of Muslims live law abiding peaceful lives
I don’t think that proves anything Ge.
The VAST majority of Liverpool fans are not hooligans and dont need to be punished or singled out for extra punishment, by having their team banned from Europe, and on top of that, for longer than the other teams with hooligans.
