Posting one shiny graph might attract the magpies, but without context, it is nothing worth taking any notice off.

I could have posted many, all showing the same conclusion.

Mooosey very kindly posted a different graph showing the same results.

If you choose to disregard the Lancet article, that’s your prerogative.

However if you are after a quicker death, try Heroin.

That all depends on dosage / unit consumption.

5 doses of alcohol to every one of heroin will probably kill you before heroin does.

On equal doses, alcohol is the more harmful.

I hate repeating myself. You did infer Heroin is less harmful.

    Correct

They are your words, not those of The Lancet.

Incorrect. They are from the Lancet.

As you see the Graph, is entitled “Harm caused by drugs”

and the article is called “A new study suggests alcohol is more harmful than heroin or crack”

the stunning conclusion. Don’t give heroin to your kids.

Not quite. The stunning conclusion is, don’t give your children alcohol. Giving your children alcohol is as harmful as giving them heroin or crack. You should be as keen to give your child alcohol as you are to give them heroin or crack.

Well we all knew that anyway… nobody disputed that

    I’m glad we agree.

However claiming Heroin is safer is also very misleading

Claiming I claimed that is very misleading. I said no such thing. My wording was from the Lancet, “less harmful”. If you have a problem with articles in the Lancet, maybe you should send them a complaint.

Your graph also has alcohol in the no1 position. Your graph agrees, when all the various factors have been taken into consideration alcohol is the the most harmful. Anything else can only be “less harmful”.

In my way of thinking, if you’re willing to give a child the no1 on the list of harmful things, then surely no2 or no3 on the list can only be less harmless, and preferable.

In my opinion, it is clear for all to see alcohol is not something to be encouraged upon children, any more than heroin or crack, or dirty old men.

If encouraging your 15 year old to have a “few” Vodkas is acceptable, then it must be equally acceptable to encourage them to have a “few” hits of something less harmful like Heroin”

Offering your child vodka is the same if not worse than offering it heroin. If you will offer your child vodka, you may as well offer it magic mushrooms, LSD, cannabis, ketamine, tobacco, or steroids. These are far less harmful.

Best do it my way, and give them none.

The Science is clear for all to see who want to see it. Alcohol is at least as harmful as heroin and crack is, thus I wont be giving my kids alcohol, heroin or crack. If you wish to do that, fine.
