I also believe that the age of consent should remain at 16. I have deliberated it over this thread. I also have children of various ages so have personal insight and experience too.
I also believe that in the UK we do generally “accept” that if 14-16’s are doing it among themselves that the law isn’t going to be going in heavy handed. I have always known that to be the set up, or my understanding of it, and I’m perfectly happy with that, as an individual, and as a parent.

Easier to get over a few vodka and cokes had just the once, than the long term affects of sex at an age you are not physically or mentally mature enough to cope with.
I don’t necessarily agree with this. If I can interpret that, a few Vodkas, a few? let’s say 5 vodkas could make a 15 year old, who has never had alcohol or vodka very sick, 5 vodkas would make me sick. Why vodka ffs? Why not a mild beer or wine even? As an extreme it could result in alcohol poisoning, even death. Why put your child through that? Surely, ONE is plenty? Surely a few vodkas are going to get a 15 year old drunk? The 15 year old probably will not want to drink alcohol with you UNLESS the child is familiar to drinking norms in the family. I would never have drank alcohol with my parents at 15. Do you think a 15 year old is physically or mentally mature enough to cope with all that?
Drunk teenagers are even MORE vulnerable to dirty old men.
It’s not perfect, far from it, but I would still offset the above in a straight choice to loving caring sex between two 15 year olds, who are mature, developed, gaining pleasure and having positive experiences together which will go on to last them a life time.

In some places, many places, many youths are out drinking on street corners at weekends.
If they have a litre of Vodka, (I think they’d get through much more than that) after 28 weekends, which is only just 6 months, that’s at least 28 litres, and 100s of cans of beer between them all. How many spliffs and cigarettes? possible exposure to hard drugs.
It could make sense for some youths to be persuaded to invite their bf/gf home for a quiet night home instead.

I think this is also taking it from one extreme to another, or exaggerating to make your point. Which made me just put your point in reverse. I just reversed your extremes.
You could have said a loving 15 year old, or 21 year old, but no, you chose the extreme of a grandad. Grandad is getting compared to ONE vodka and coke. Not 7, not a whole bottle, not 28 litres. From one extreme to another. Of course in your scenario, I would choose the ONE vodka and coke. But in my scenario I would chose the ONE bonk.
What’s worse for a 14 year old, a very quick bonk with a very loving 15 year old partner, very pleasurable, used contraception, or 28 litres of vodka?
