I used to be able to control what was going on my profile until they brought about their new and “improved” security settings.

I have a limited profile set up for people whom i really do not trust (For example family members can see almost everything whereas a general aquaintance would not be able to see photos)

I use the Facebook to keep up with family members overseas (It’s cheaper than calling as i do not have a home phone) Also my drag racing community has a very wide catchment. From Scotland to Cornwall and Finland to France, I have people who wish to send me news items or would like to catch up with the latest goings on in the drag racing world. My internet is fully paid by the website so i put this to good use through emails and the like. I’d rather not have them calling me on my mobile while Eastenders is on thanks very much. The off peak season is from October to March and it’s easier to keep up with my foriegn friends – i’d say i have a couple of hundred – in this way.

You can only be bullied if you let someone bully you.. you can easily put a stop to it by blocking or deleting someone on FB. It’s no worse than giving out your mobile phone number to them and a lot less hassle to block them than changing your number entirely and having to give it out all over again.

I see no problem having a fort knox Facebook site where people can send me messages if that’s how they wish to communicate with me than handing out my personal phone number. Which by the way, isn’t on my facebook details page – niether is my email address. :D

In my line of web based work, i’d like to be aproachable to our audience and if it’s through FB then so be it. As long as you know how to control your privacy and are careful then why should it be taboo or dangerous?

You can alos hide things from the home page too. If you select next to the post you have the option to hide and all future posts such as ‘so n so is now friends with’ and that stuff will be hidden

I really dislike people being able to check up on what i’ve been doing. It used to be so much easier :roll:
