Many years ago when I was a boy I once got chatting to a girl called Sam on my CB radio.
CB Radios were all the rage in those days of the early 80s and everybody seemed to have them, either at home or in their cars.

Although Sam and I both lived in the same town, we had never met and were complete strangers.
Once we started chatting that didn’t seem to matter and we got on really well together.
We’d spend hours each night talking about ourselves, laughing and playing our favourite records to each other on our CBs.

She told me she was blonde with blue eyes and liked 1950s rock n roll and was a big fan of Brenda Lee the singer.
I was eager to know everything I could about her because she liked me as much as I liked her and that feeling was new to me.

Sam and I carried on chatting for about three weeks before I asked her if she fancied meeting up.
I was a slow burner lol.
It was an eveningin town I won’t forget.
When our eyes met for the first time we both stood there with our mouths open just looking at each other.

    It was like a film.
“Sam, is that you?” I said.
She just smiled, ran over to me and gave me a hug that seemed to go on for ever.
We became inseperable from that moment on.

A month, and several dates, later we had a romantic few days at the seaside together.
We’d taken a tent but overnight the campsite had flooded so we asked around at the camp site office and they let us have a caravan.
    What a weekend that was.

Even to this day I’d say she was the prettiest girl I’ve ever seen and I always remember those days as the happiest of my life.

I am so sad. Spent most of morning at local hospital saying goodbye to my uncle. They turned his life support off at midday and he passed away at half twelve. I feel so very very sad.

My thoughts are with you and your sad loss gyps. x

My chili is the best, how dare you say I would use a tin! :o

I love chili and always pride myself on making everything from fresh. When we went camping this year, I was asked to make my chili by friends 8)
I had to do a veggie one too, never done it before but it was actually quite nice. :D

    sian,
the chili I’m cooking tonight will feed an army.
It’s a big slow cooker and that’s one of the advantages you get when you do it my way.
As for your chili being the best…I very much doubt it.

    Yes duck.

Everybody just helps themselves to it when they get home.
The kid is always missing mealtimes to be with his mates so it’s an ideal solution.
I don’t need Jamie Oliver to teach me to cook either.

My point was the slow cooker bit, whats wrong with 45 mins in a pan and left on the stove until it needs warming, everyone knows a chilli tastes better cooked twice

Just don’t see in wasting energy cooking it all day.

 I can imagine what being married to you must be like sian.
