Nobody wanted it when they appointed Hoddle, who had never done anything of note, and to be fair when he took the helm he didn’t do a bad job. His off field antics lost him the ‘top job’.

I agree with Geoff, Hoddle was a good manager, young enough to still be in the job for the next ten years, got some cracking results (Everyone remember the Italy game away when we needed a point to qualify for 98?) Thought we had a real chance in France, if it wasn’t for that numpty Graeme le sauxs abysmal back pass against Romania we would have had a nice easy game against Croatia instead of the Argies, although we were unlucky in that game.

If Sven goes, i’d like Hoddle back in, but would he take it? if he doesn’t why not give the reigns to Stuart Pearce, the man is full of passion, been there and done it at the highest level. So called big football countries have appointed managers with no experiance, look at Germany now with Klinsman, Holland as well have appointed past players with no experiance, maybe it’s time we threw caution to the wind and give it to someone who genuinely cares about footy.

Did you also know that Didier Hamann was the last player to score at wembley before it got knocked down? He is German and they beat the then Keegan team 1-0 in a qualifying match for the 2002 world cup, little did we know then that the return tie would be one of the greatest England performanc of all time with an owen hat-trick, the boys went on to win 5-1 fantastic. What odds would you get on Hamann scoring the first goal at the new wembley come May for Liverpool in the Fa cup final?

I bought my little girl the original on DVD at xmas, £4.99 at wooly’s when you spend a £10 or more and she’s watched it dozens of times already, bloody brilliant film that, one of my faves, Gene Wilder is fantastic as Mr Wonka and the kid who plays Charlie is a brilliant actor, and all round great film.

Never been a fan of Depps, something strange about him and he looks like Michael Jackson in the updated version too.
