Earth worm
They wriggle and tunnel
All day underground
You won’t here them coming
They don’t make a sound
They turn and twist
Then twist and turn
I refer of course
To the common earth worm
What is their purpose
Surely you know
They aeriate the soil
So our plants can grow
To the garden bird
They’re a wonderful feast
Better than bread
And that fattening yeast
The angler will thump the ground
And then wait
When they rear their heads
They’ll use them as bait
They’re no further use
To woman or man
Yet a young child
May keep them in a can
So let them wriggle
And twist then turn
They’re one of Gods creature’s
The common earth worm
