I nearly produced this thread months ago, but felt it wouldnt make poster maturity.

Tonight, after bombings of a deadly kind through religious conatations in the middle east, a somewhat sofisticated current affairs radio presenter (James whale) asked (in a cold voice) are we heading for WW3?

I want to point out at this stage, that this is not meant flippently, or to “have a go” at anyone, i’d just really like to gauge opinion on this website, as to what folk think about the continuing crisis in the middle east?

Word round the political camp fire suggests Iran and Syria are about to enter into this conflict.

    Question: Does that mean WW3?

PLEASE, no silly comments, this is a very serious question.

    Thank you.

I dont like or agree with everything james says. I would just point out to you, that he has many a contact in the political field, maybe slightly one sided, but all the same, a deep knowledge.

I would love you personal input as to whether we are entering into world war status, how close do you think we are, even if we dont get to that unfortunate state?

    No slagging please.

    Thank you.

If George Dubya and Tony Blair weren’t running under the Christian banner, I’d be more than happy with a full-scale war on Muslem fundamentalists.

But they are, so I’m not!

Is it an act? Might be, to give them “gods will” to wage war.

I’m sceptical about political leaders who attend church. Are they really Christians or are they afraid to not be seen to be Christian?

When Margaret Thatcher was asked for her opinion on religion she replied; “As a child I was made to attend Sunday School, and I hated it!”

I admire her for that, not much more, but I admire her for that. 8)

    Good point there Owen.

Should we condem blair and all those who talk religious belief in their political gains?

If our political leaders were not religous, would they become unelectable?

I think they would, hence my scepticism. Bot getting elected must take priority for all politicians. Therefore, society gets what it deserves. And most of them read The Sun, The Mirror, The Mail and The News of The World, so f*ck ’em all I say!

Depends who our political leaders were. But i would say yes generally. The question is, who is willing to promote good policy regardless?

Some would say a radical response to your latter point, i say i hear ya!!

But its not all NOTW MAIL etc, there also guardian readers, seartchlight and stopthebnp political activists too my friend Owen.

What we need is decent policy for decent people who work hard each and every day.
