    Let’s quash the rumours.

Just Chat is free and there are no plans to change that. Advertising pays the bills around here. Sometimes it’s annoying. Often there’s too much of it, but that’s the way it has to be.

For those who want access to the chat rooms without advertising, there is a paid option:

    http://www.jcplus.co.uk/

For everyone else, please rest assured that you will continue to have free access to Just Chat for as long as the advertising pays the bills.

    Hi Martin,

long time JC user here, about 6 years,

thanks for the message but Id just like to clarify further as possibly others would, in the past couple of days advertisements have been actually popping up every ten minutes or so preventing the user from accessing the normal forum page and without any option to clikc off forcing users to refresh and continue this process

So when you say it will remain free but adverts are you infact referring to the normal adverts that have been on the side of the page always when in the forum or are you in fact referring to these new adverts continually popping up while a user is in the chat room, because some clarification on that would be helpful

    cheers

Good to see you on the boards!

I consider both types to be adverts – so both can be expected to appear on Just Chat.

Still got to pay to bum me though.

Personally I have no problem with sites using ad-server sites to pay the cost of providing the site, but I do find it a pain when the advertising is intrusive to the point that it is very difficult to bypass or takes over a large percentage of the page limiting access to the page. For example there is one site that appears on the right hand side of the screen which causes the text in the chat room to be cut off

    Which ad is that?

You need to check that the site is compatible to all browsers as it seems quite clearly it isn’t.

    Sounds like you’ve got a browser/java issue.

I just checked using Lunascape, FF, Chrome AND IE and can’t seem to replicate your problem.

What browser are you using? Version of Java? What’s your screen resolution?

Also if you could go to the chat page and take a screenshot and post it here :)
