    I want a pet
apart from the kids and the cats and the various creatures who visit my home,(yes I mean men too 8) ) I feel something is missing
    I’ve always had pets
Kids being the excuse for getting them
but they have grown out of the ‘mum, I want hamster’ phase
    soooooooo
    what do you recommend?

    bear in mind:-

    I have a small home
    I work full time
    I have three teenagers
    a good size garden
    and I bore easily

Gerbils are a cool pet… although Guinea Pigs are even better. They are ultra friendly, don’t bite, love attention, will happily squeek away to themselves and are very very amusing.

Its a Jird chris more or less a rat size gerbil and even better pet than a gerbil though i’m waiting for a ugh it’s tail response

Get yourself a rat bon bon.. they are the cleanest rodents .. they don’t smell..and they don’t bite and they are dead clever. I have 2 called Ronnie and Reggie and they are the cutest little ppl i have ever set eyes on.. they even come when they are called and sit and beg on demand. Better than wimpish gerbils who don’t like to be picked up and bite when they mood takes them

    Oh and gerbils smell!

You never had a gerbil then ? The only time ive been bitten was putting my hand between two fighting gerbils (dont) and unlike rats, gerbils and jirds dont tend to die early of tumours and pneumonia. In fact that would be my only anti rat advice other than that they’re great pets but Di’s had a rat

Jirds are very soft furred and tend to live their 4 yr lifespan.

Chinchillas are nice except the sand all over the shop. Dont get a chipmunk they bite.

Tropical fish tank is quite relaxing

I agree with Pete about the tropical fish tank – I had one for ages…. we had a red-tailed shark which was the most entertaining fish!

If it was a rodent I was choosing for a pet I’d definately get another rat
Itchy was one of the best pets I’ve had the pleasure to care for
She used to sit on my shoulder and give me inspiration when I typed in 40s
OMG I feel a lump coming
