Here is a link concerning a head teacher fined £20,000 over the death of a pupil

Initially as the headteacher wasnt personally supervising the child perhaps the person who was should be the one in court?

Other than that perhaps the school itself as an sntity should be what was prosecuted and fined?

Or even the local education authority as the school “belongs” to them far more than to the headteacher

And what about the people employed by the local education authority to check a site is safe for the purpose its being used? Surely safety issues are their responsibility really?

And lets look at the actual accident, the chlld jumped 4 stairs, thus having a fall and attaining some minor injuries, does he not have stairs at home? Could he have not had just as bad an “accident” if stairs had already been gated so he had decided to jump of a chair or table instead?

Are we supposed to playmate coat every surface in and around schools now then and remove anything at all a child MIGHT climb on and then jump back off of?

But the thing here that stands out, is he didnt die of his injuries, they were extremely minor, what he died of was a strain of MRSA he contracted whilst at the hospital being treated

So why isnt the hospital the entity being prosecuted?

Surely their part in this unfortunate affair is far more serious than anything that happened at the school?

yet another case of the all american claim and blame societywe are now forced to live and work in. surely it was the brats own fault for playing the fool. mabey his mother should be blamed for allowing this child to do pretty much as he likes as long as he leaves her alone. or should we blame the adult who was not doing their job and not watching the kid ….
what a load of bullhsit…

It seems like whilst the child was injured at school, nothing much could have been done to prevent it. kids will be kids, he was hurt whilst playing on steps, it could of happened anywhere and whilst he was in anyones care. I cant see what the school could have done to make the steps safer. It was an accident, plain and simple as far as i can see.

Well it did say they have now installed a childgate now, but its 4 steps FFS, hardly a pile of razor blades

But it still seems odd that this child died, but rather than hauling the hospital into court over the infection that killed him they are stringing out a headteacher who wasnt even supervising the child and even so is only responsible for quite minor injuries anyway

The headteacher had no savings and the parents are even now saying they are going to sue him personally.

I hope their claim fails. It may do so.
