The Ireland match was an oddity.
The better team by far won, but with the aid of a couple of freakish goals and a peculiar, muted turn from the Irish. They looked banjaxed in fairness. Reminded me of the 2007 Rugby World Cup, and that would be a huge worry.
Nevermind, it’s only Spain next.. Argh!!

Encouraging on the other hand from England. A decent graft against a technically superior team and a result that was just about right. What’s it with deep defending in this tournament though? Is Chelsea a la Nou Camp to be the way forward (ha) now?
Anyway, well done England. A very stable start to proceedings.
