Oops! Seems I’ve trodden on your toes. I forgot you’re obsessed with Jokecliffe. Sorry Coaty, I won’t do it again.

Good Girl, now run along, and don’t do it again, theres a good little minion :D

Oh thank you! How great thou art!

    *Sings

Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works thy hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
    Thy power throughout the universe displayed;

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee,
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!

Can my misdemeanour appear in your next one dimensional story about Jokecliffe?

some people will do anything for a name check

Oh Coaty! I so want to be immortalised in your great literacy works! I’ve cleared my bookshelves of works by Hardy, Wilde, Dickens and Shakespeare, and filled them with print outs of your far superior work.
Honour me! Let me just have a line to myself in your next story. Pretty please?

yes you are trying hard Dear but I’m just not sure ….

”Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative. ”

It’s far too soon for Concordia threads.

I’ve pencilled in November 18th 2013 for the really sick stuff, but that could be a bit early for the moral crusaders on here.

And I WON’T won’t be mentioning the outlandish size of the Japanese Emperor’s head……………….deal with it.

    That’s rather unlikely.

I locked her up in the shed six months ago for chatting to you.

The aggressive, taciturn and religious Confederate general Thomas Jonathan “Stonewall” Jackson was – and in some circles still is – a revered figure in the history of the American South. In his honour was carved the largest bas relief in the world, on an immense granite rock near Atlanta called Stone Mountain. Stonewall Jackson is the figure bringing up the rear behind Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee.

Part of the funding for the carving of the bas relief came from the Ku Klux Klan – and part from the U.S. federal government. Many consider it to be an immense monument to slavery and racism. In his “I have a dream” speech, Martin Luther King said, “let freedom ring from Stone Mountain in Georgia.”

His last words are striking, but not redeeming, and either an amazing coincidence or an instance of the poetry inherent in humanity. Jackson was a victim of friendly fire. Hit three times by a fusillade from his own troops, he lost an arm and then succumbed to pneumonia. He died delirious.

Jackson’s last words, as recorded by the attending physician, were delivered after “a smile of ineffable sweetness spread itself over his pale face.” Strange but true, these last words make what can only be called a natural – as opposed to literary – haiku.

Of course not, but I do have some photo albums of a sweet child stuck up the chimney with a Mary Poppins doll. Much later I put 2 + 2 together, and realised that Di/ck van Dyke was probably my great grandfather.

    Which explains the accent.

The word “Police” does not come from Sting’s post-punk band as most people think, but from the old English “Please”, which is what people used to say when they were begging not to be arrested, or generally wanted a doughnut.

One police officer, having remarkably low IQ (even for a genetically engineered steroid-taking doughnut), assumed that his victim was calling for help. He reacted by shouting, “I am the Police, fooker !!” and kicked the perpetrator in the nuts. This didn’t work because the victim was a 5 year old girl. However, the word “Police” caught on, as people found it easier to say than “Pointless Human Doughnut”, the original name.

The only time you’re safe from a cop is when you are in close vicinity of a doughnut shop. If you’re not round and have a large hole through your middle, you remain completely invisible compared to the glazed goodness behind the counter.

Bliddy hell, I haven’t been here since yesterday afternoon, then signed in this evening and I saw that I’d started a thread in my absence!
Then I checked the date of the opening post and phew! I’m not that senile after all

sorry about that Jen, didn’t think it would cause so much confusion, and the basic sentiment remains the same.
It seems so wasteful making a new thread when there’s a perfectly good one in existence, just waiting to be honoured again, and I missed it first time round.

Anyway, your self-evident lack of senility is an inspiration to all. But try not to say ‘bliddy’ again – some of us were young children once.
    Thank you.
