I would like to know what people think about this article:

White people, here are 10 requests from a Black Lives Matter leader

The authour of the article appears to be a real person, with real social media accounts.

However, I can’t tell if it is a satircal parody or if it is serious. What do you think?

Dunno drac but one things for sure………..there’s a war coming. Americans will have the gun debate til the end of time. Simple question…..why doesn’t the U.K have as many gun related incidents as America?

Not really related to the article, but a better question is why Switzerland has nearly no gun incidents when nearly 50% of the adult population own firearms?

I think that gun ownership should be legal for any citizen who can pass a background check.

Have to disagree….give any person a gun whether back ground checked or not and the likelihood is that one day, they will shoot some thing or some one with it. Statistics and checks have nothing to do with it. Any way….my original question still remains…although you obviously dismissed it in your arrogance for a better question.

If firearm ownership causes shootings, then why isn’t there many shootings in Switzerland?

I agree with you that background checks probably aren’t all that effective. But the reason I want them is that it creates someone to blame if there is a shooting, otherwise there will be much more public unrest.

    Draculina..

    Very good thread.

White myself and growing up in a multi diversity of people and cultures must formerly say not only a black issue but those of other nationality as well. Latino,Spanish so forth…for us in this Country.

As this article focused for the “Black People’s Voice” opinions no matter what a white person would say, controversy will always be applied as well as what some one else commented regarding guns/control in America. Will never ever go away…harmony will never be found, equality will never be found…never in our life time or children’s or their children’s in my opinion will ever go away…
I have been in many large forums and places with these exact debates..
The article are issues that can apply by using another perspective as well applied,
If a black person down sizes home, if black person gets paid more than white person, if education for a black person better than white.
But then we go back to other cultures who as well live among us. They state same thing but not only apply white version include other version, why do black have more than latino..make sense…
So forth… statistics also applies to race, census and so forth..

One thing detest and do not understand and know for fact..is that companies are paid by government extra money to hire different races in organizations..companies and so forth..so you have to have quota to get more programs and funding. This also works through municipalities. Towns/villages/cities. Makes no sense..but fact it is what it is..this is what happens.

Sorry lengthy. This is what do. Part of advocacy, injustice, finding resources for others if different class and culture needs.

Actually…guns are to blame…if no one has guns…no one will shoot any one. Your neighbor won’t threaten you with a gun and you won’t have the chance to shoot them.

    Guns,regulations controls..

My brother spends much time in Montana told me everyone has a gun.. get’s one easy, no issues like for us in New York. He applies his reasoning as said by friends over the years, raised with guns for hunting, eating more use, and not for killing humans. Standard live by all of those raised in that area. Less deaths, theft, rape, murder..

Can say for New York only.. background check, renewals and payment for license, waiting period short. However agree that those who legally get them may find another purpose later for them not initially thought on..

    Had several guns myself/partner..used them.
We got rid of every one. Possible theft, hurt of family members, and have to be careful if your shells not stored proper…not used, climate, can be explosive material as well….

If someone wants a gun, use to think fine, no problem. But we have communities of gangs/violence, weapons used. Not normal fist fights. We have people innocent bystanders killed/children in which targets focused, missed… not stored properly.. mental and substance abuse who drunk or not on medication or not randomly go on hunts to kill an employee, employer in rages. Can not control those who use guns. The rage of those in this society, present society, no matter where is way out of control lately. I do not see control ever happening again..

    Sorry Lengthy again….

Are cars to blame when someone is run over?

Funny. But not too. Guns seem to have always perhaps had 2 positive focuses. One providing food quicker. Second form of authority or figure role.

Today and we don’t if my neighbors and I were to get mad with each other, I see me not cutting either of the grass or trees that may get over grown on my property. Simply tell them to do it, or no baking goodie and barbeque…ha ha
