It’s a sad fact that the greater you as an artist, the greater you are worth financially when you’r dead. There’s always a conflict artistically that when you rely on art for a living one has to compromise on fashion, trends and who you know…(or knew)

The reason why the great artists were worth more dead than they were alive is that they truly were great artists. They had far more passion for the works they created than the monetary value the works created.

Here’s an interesting thought…….i don’t think there’s any written record of any great artist moaning about how much money they made in a sale….they made the art regardless…Art sales may be mostly about rarity and the artist’s popularity at any given time…..same with poetry really, even records and most things in life.

I believe most strongly that if any one wants to do some thing then there really is no way that any one is going to stop one. It all comes down to what one is seeing to achieve in the first place.

So that’s my next question…..what is one, or you, or any one attempting to achieve?

all life is about luck, it starts on day one, someone cud be born disabled that is obv about luck, people will dissagree with that thou, also a lot of modern art is not art it is just everyday type objects rotated or something simple as that, and i blv dead year old artists art sells for millions each, is it was a different type of life them days, and they did not have cameras maybe, but now if some artist did some painting of a animal or view, it is worth less if anything, as obv we have cameras to take photos of them views and animals etc, the people who like the sht art that sells now, like bloody a basket ball in some see thr chemical or clothes on the floor or a rotated urinal, are obv dumb people, that or they buy them sht bits of art, and for millions of £, is as they know the artist will one day make another good, thing what people wud call art, but the art collectors  buy the things i wud not call art to keep the artist making things, as like i said one or more of them things the artist makes wud be great, something  maybe most will call art, i blv people like Damien Hirst, are so rich as they made random odd things unlike some other artist doing commen day things like doing a painting of a animal or a view etc, what like i said obv as we have cameras we dont need people making things like that, also unrelated to art, if someone is the best of the best obv they wud prob get the most cash and popularity.

Do you think camera’s have interfered too much in art?

    #1093754

yes i do, but it obv depends if it is some type of art made with making a photo/s by a camra or not, like i said i blv it has destroyed the art people use to do before camra, but now anyone cud get them images using a camra, is a easy way to get something that interests someone but a painting is obv more difficult to make if it is related to some view or a animal etc.

Yeah….there are pro’s and cons to every thing. A good shot with a camera can be brilliant in it’s capture as the moment is held forever and one can see places etc that one would probably never see in a life time. And skill to capture a great picture can be just as time consuming and inspiring as painting a master piece.

One of my main points about creativity is that there are traditionalists who scorn modern technology as it some how seems insincere or false in some way..like one is cheating….My attitude is this…….whether one uses a pen, a brush, pastels, or any thing digital……..one still has to use one’s hands to use the brains inspiration to create the desired end result.

I think it’s a case of blending the old and the new to create new ideas which are still viable to the classics as they are revolutionary to the new generation(s).

How one is born is yes a matter of chance as no one can determine how they will be born and into what sense of ability. However, once one is born, it’s then up to one to do the best with life as one can do…….after all…what else can one do?
