I was watching a programme called: WOULD YOU SAVE A STRANGER, regarding violent attacks in public.
Ok, it’s all very well getting angry, and saying you would, but who knows unless you’re actually in that situation. You can understand why some people depending on the situation may be too scared to Intervine.
There were two incidents which got to me, which both happened on Public Transport.
A young boy was being attacked – Kicked – Punched, by a number of teenagers. No One intervined. Ok, i can understand why they may have felt the need not to intervine, but the Bus Driver eventually stopped, the boy got off, and was followed by The Gang. Now surely this made it worse. No mention of anyone actually getting off the bus to see how this attack could have escalated, where there could have been derelict areas in which the Gang could have taken this boy, with absolutely no help, and no mention of the bus driver using his radio to call for help? This young boy is someone’s child.
The second incident involved two young girls. Again, a bus full of people, one of the two young girls was punched and Kicked, by a gang of females, and one passenger as she was getting off the bus, said “Shhhhh”.. To the young girl who was screaming, and begging for help whilst being attacked! Now, a bus full of people, and no-one could intervine and defend this girl? Ok, it’s frightening, you don’t know what to expect, but i’m sure that IF on the 911 flight, the passengers all got together and planned on trying to save themselves from the terrorists, then the BUS FULL OF PASSENGERS could have tried a similar tactic?
