26 June, 2006 at 5:23 pm #228213Good game, shame the Aussies didn’t have the skill to finish them off.
27 June, 2006 at 10:12 am #228214Mrs PB is Italian (as some of you know already). In the last couple of minutes of the game she couldn’t bear the tension and ran off and locked herself in the bathroom.
When Italy scored from that pretty dodgy and badly acted fall I bellowed ”YESSSSSSSSSSS!!” and she shouted down “Did they score???”
Unfortunately I told her that the Australians scored a goal in the last few seconds ans won 1-0. She burst into tears and it took me a long time to persuaade her that Italy really won and it was my Englich sense of humour. Silly woman shouldn’t have taken it all so seriously !!!
My lawyers are expecting a Divorce Petition any day now.
I hate bloody football.
27 June, 2006 at 3:12 pm #228215The Australians were robbed by typical Italian melodramatic tumbling. The Italians should be ashamed of themselves.
27 June, 2006 at 4:17 pm #228216Are you kidding?????? The whole country went totally mad when they realised they were through. Shame????…. what’s that? They don’t know the meaning of the word.
During the three hours or so of telephone calls from my house to just about every relative that ever there was, the constant theme was people driving around like madmen hooting their car horns in delight; the streets were thronged from Domodossola in the North to Aceri in the South; church bells ringing; even cousin Franco ”The horse’s head” was moved to buy drinks all round in the village bar in Perdifumo.
You have to admit, it was a fantastic bit of theatre though complete with face contorted in ”pain”, rolling around in ”agony”, tears, the full works. The man has missed his vocation – he should be on the stage.
