The following questions focus on how magazines create and change stereotypes and how these stereotypes have changed over the past 20 years. Stereotypes are defined as “ideas held about members of particular groups, based solely on membership in that group. They are often considered to be negative or prejudicial and may be used to justify certain discriminatory behaviors. According to Sander Gilman, stereotypes, by definition, are never accurate representations, but a projection of an individual’s fears onto others, regardless of the reality of others.”

My main titles of focus are Cosmopolitan and FHM, and the following questions are aimed to allow the participant to express their opinions and thoughts about stereotyping in magazines, mainly Cosmopolitan and FHM.

Your personal details will remain anonymous and names will not be quoted. The results will be combined and used as data. I only need personal details such as names, ages and locations as proof I have conducted my dissertation research with real people and these people could be found should they need to be (which of course you wont need to be!).
