29 December, 2007 at 10:49 am #8822Yet another year and yet another bunch of no marks get a pat on the back for sucking up to the government, or worse still doing absolutely nothing. Can someone please tell me what Parkinson and Minogue have done to deserve such an award. Kylie hasn’t had a hit in ages and if it is for her music then why didn’t she get one ages ago. It can’t be for her acting surely and Surely she didn’t get one for getting over cancer or is it a case of the government giving her one so they can be seen being it touch with the youth of today. As for parky he’s just crap. A bumbling fool who spend an hour interviewing someone without asking them any thing. Then theres Des ” i slept with a load of women behind my wife’s back” there you go have an OBE on us or what about BBC journalist George Alagiah who gets one just for reading an auto Q, this list goes on. I’ve got an idea, what about giving the life boat men who save lives just for a minimum wage or the thousands of normal people who work hard and get no thanks what so ever…….just a thought 29 December, 2007 at 11:09 am #298366I’ve got an idea, what about giving the life boat men who save lives just for a minimum wage or the thousands of normal people who work hard and get no thanks what so ever…….just a thought =D> =D> =D> 29 December, 2007 at 11:35 am #298367@chickenman wrote: I’ve got an idea, what about giving the life boat men who save lives just for a minimum wage or the thousands of normal people who work hard and get no thanks what so ever…….just a thought I agree, normal hard working people should get awards. However, will the government ever obtain such decency? Obviously not – which is a shame, because the awards should go to those who derserve them. 29 December, 2007 at 12:20 pm #298368Mind you in saying all that i think BAT should get a knighthood for driving a Volvo in jimjams  29 December, 2007 at 12:43 pm #298369@chickenman wrote: Mind you in saying all that i think BAT should get a knighthood for driving a Volvo in jimjams      I still havn,t found the botton half of em you know. Bastard poltergeists. 29 December, 2007 at 12:54 pm #298370Dont get me started on Kylie. Give them to who Batty suggests or some of the young carers of the country… they deserve to be honoured. 29 December, 2007 at 2:06 pm #298371I agree sharon, There are loads of young carers out there that don’t get recognised for what they do, and they do a sight more than popstars etc  30 December, 2007 at 10:12 pm #298372All from the 2007 Honours list- its not difficult to find out- perhaps if people actually found out the truth instead of spouting bo/llox, they would be a lot more informed- caretakers, foster carers, football secretaries, volunteers- its all there and always has been, year in, year out FFS John ALLEN

There are already enough awards for “celebrities” through the year. These awards are supposed to be for acheivment, not famousness. 30 December, 2007 at 10:35 pm #298374Clearly not many did know about the “none” famous honours! (at least, judging by this thread) Since when did being accomplished and famous at something preclude you from an honour from the queen- whether you have two pennies or two million pounds, if you’ve made a contribution to society, have acheived something, then you fall into the category of candidate for an honour In case it had passed you by, some “famous” people actually have TALENT- if they didnt, wouldnt we all be famous? Achieving something in arts or sport deserves recognition
