And also since the focus has been around what is legal and illegal.
Do people really think its ok for a person in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70s’ etc to have sex with a child of 16 just because it is ‘legal’?
‘Oh its ok she/he is 16’ – you know a lot of 16 year olds can look older say 18 (still manky in my own opinion) but a lot of 16 year olds can also look younger.
Many 60 year old men/women may have grandchildren around the age of 16.
Either way you look at it, legal or illegal – its sick.
I think 16 is too young. I think 18 is more acceptable purely because I have had two kids and just because they may have the ‘bits and pieces’ they are still not fully physically or mentally ready, regardless of how ‘mature’ they appear or think they are or how ‘mature’ people may want them to be in order to reason/give themselves permission for sleeping with them when they are so much older than them and really should know better .
Some people think with their private parts with no regard to others.
These people who sleep with very young people should realise that there is something wrong with that child for wanting to sleep with you, its not because you are ‘hot stuff at your age’.
Wake up look in the mirror and smell the coffee.

Well sadly, it’s the government who messes about with what’s right or wrong on any matter and the people or peoples of any country or nation has to go along with it.
WTF? Draculina do you really think a child as young as 14 should be having sexual relations with people or are you so ‘concerned’ with the crime rate ‘coming down’ you would lower the age of consent just so that the figures look more ‘appealing’?
It was a rebutal to when Ge said that European countries with a lower age of consent have a lower reported crime rate than the UK, which has a higher age of consent.
If you were a mother maybe you would feel differently?

Look at what’s happening in the us just now with Warren Jeffs. He is in prison just now for life for paedophilia and polygamy. He because, he is the profit of the breakaway group of the, Mormon church, Fundamentalists church of Jesus Christ of the latter-day saints.Started by Joseph Smith. They believe warren jeffs, is the prophet of god and that everything he says is the word of god. Therefore they believe when he says he can take and give away to older men who can be any age often as old as there grand father, 12 year old brides that, it is gods will and should be done. He also raped girls and boys of his own family. They believe that the blood in this group is sacred and often marry brother and sisters of there own family cousin’s uncles ect. Also the thousands of storeys of the lost boys, taken from school to work at ages ten and below to work and slave until the age of sixteen eighteen and then, thrown from the group in to the to make there own way in life without education or any knowledge of the world outside the group. This man is still running the church from prison and still has a very tight hold on the people. He is a mad man.This is happening at this time in the usa.

As far as I can tell people in this thread are deliberately misinterpreting the law as a justification for their view that sex with a child 14-16 is acceptable.
That being said, legality and morality are not the same thing. And I don’t believe that is acceptable.
My personal view, which I haven’t yet stated on this thread is that :
A 14 year old should be able to have sex with someone between the ages of 14 and 16
A 16 year old should be able to have sex with someone between the ages of 16 and 18
An 18 year old should be able to have sex with someone who is 18 or older
In all honesty everyone posting here has made very very good points..I for one appreciate your views, back up information, as this too helps me think of others perspective and or experiences…..
Home, (parents), professionals, educators provide the sex talk, we even learn in science classes…is it enough some times I wonder?
Is it really consent we speak of, morals, values, cultural acceptance, society acceptance, well guess you can say they all apply in some form or shape..
But like jamief and others abused at such early age in life, and working with those whom too victims by own fathers, mother’s, family unit, out side predators, all agree or state, they became scared, frightened, not shared with any one, fear of not being able to get away..looked upon as their fault not stop act, weak,…
In the end all felt mostly the other person had sense of control, power..over them..this in turn many of them feel lost, vulnerable, weak, unable to protect themself…. this in turn also changed who they were. Loss of relationships with opposite sex. Unable to find or build confidence within making them be withdrawn have no confidence in themself and decisions they make…
Again not sure what considered appropriate age for our youth, decisions made on relationships made, I do agree in a very sexual era such as this in which 13 years considered more a starting point, seems more physical needs, desires.

It is missing Linda because so many people these days seem to only think with their private parts.
It is so easy now to just meet and have sex with people and have no feelings towards them.
It has become a shallow world where people have no care for others and are only focussing on sexual gratification, manipulation and as long as they get what they want they do not care about the affect it may have on other people.
Some people see the beauty in others, some people only see what they want to.
Some people don’t even see you at all.

No its not alright. At the age of 16 or under Children should be concentrating on their education.What happens when pregnancies occur are they going to be capable of looking after a baby a that age?
And you have gone wrong with your maths if as you say its okay for a 14 year old to have sex with a 16 year old then a 16 year old would also be able to have sex with a 14 year old and not just 16-18.
There is more to life than sex. Let children be children instead of forcing adult decisions on them.
