Just Chat- what has happened to it?

I guess what i meant was, maybe the time has come for some of us ( me included) to ignore the ones we don’t like and not bite back when baited… and for those that intentionally come into the room to cause trouble , insult, and generally wind people up just for the fun of it .. to maybe take a step back , and think for once, how it is disrupting and spoling the room the room. And remember, we can’t all like the same people can we?

Everybody raise your non-typing hand, and type after me:

1. I {insert recognisable nickname here} hereby promise from this moment on to chat in Just Chat Forum 3 (henceforth known as “the room”) in a manner which promotes the harmony, wellbeing and goodwill of the room.

2. To this end I promise:

a. To cease, desist and refrain from insulting or winding up other chatters, including those who have insulted and wound me up in the past
b. To respond to any attempts to insult me or wind me up with good humour and grace
c. To discourage any insults, windups or harassment from other chatters
d. To endeavour to welcome new chatters to the room with cheerfulness and courtesy, including those who I suspect are using nicknames other than their commonplace nicknames, commonly referred to as “namechangers” and those whose nicknames boast of their appendages or supposed sexual proclivities, commonly referred to as “pervs”.
e. To maintain the qualities heretofore referred to in clause 1 in with a robust and witty edge which shall maintain the knockabout environment and frequent bawdiness for which the room is famed
f. To ensure that the chatter Wordsworth is provided with a flagon of good red wine, a freshly made 1lb raisin cake and a freshly made hot sandwich containing a fried egg and bacon sandwich between two slices of buttered Kingsmill wholemeal bread or equivalent every month on the fourth day of the month or as close to the fourth day of the month as he appears in the room.

3. I agree to be bound by this oath for a trial period of three months and afterwards in perpetuity until cancelled by a quorum of 17 chatters or until the chatter Wordsworth becomes a vegetarian by conviction, whichever is the soonest.

4. I seal this oath with a hawk and a spit.

Now everybody hawk up a good spit and send it over your left shoulder into a pile of sawdust on the floor or a handy spittoon, whichever is the nearest

The chatter Wordsworth is defrocked and leaves the room clad only in his M&S trunks and his day of the week socks
