A few weeks ago, I received an e-mail from a ferry company offering me a really low cross channel fare, starting from £25.

I didn’t take them up on their ‘time limited special offer’.

    Today I get another e-mail:

“Due to popular demand, we’ve extended our offer until 6th January 2010 – and we’ve made even more space available at the great low fare of £25 each way. But be quick, as space is limited!”

Translation: Few people bothered themselves to book a space, even at this so-called giveaway rate, so we’ve been forced to extend the ‘deadline’ in the hope that we can sell a few more places on our cross Channel ferries.

Space is limited sure, limited by the capacity of a nearly empty ferry.

Anybody else got any examples of misleading marketing ‘double speak’???
