Your First LP or CD

did this elsewhere but I am PROUD that my first LPs were SnowGoose, Slade Alive and Who’s Next (tokens for xmas)

As I skipped over previously..my first album was The Best Of The Move…Blackberry way is still one of my favourite toons. As I was a skint schoolgirl..this is how I acquired the said L.P. : My mum had sent me to do the shopping..my friend sneaked a half pound of corned-beef through the checkout..I deducted it from the total of the shopping and used the spare cash for my L.P I think it was out the ‘bargain bin.’ :oops:

my first was Dirk Wears White Sox by Adam and the Ants 8)

Dirk Wears White Sox was Adam & the Ants’ first album, released on Do It Records in 1979. The album was made with the original lineup of Adam and the Ants, which disbanded after the album was released (with the other members going on to form Bow Wow Wow), before Adam went on to fame with “Kings of the Wild Frontier.” Dirk Wears White Sox features a much more eclectic, sometimes brooding sound than Ant’s later work. Many of the songs, notably “Cleopatra” and “Never Trust a Man (With Egg on his Face)” remained a part of Adam’s live repertoire throughout his career, with the Ants and later as a solo artist.

When the Ants became commercially successful the “Zerox” (7/79 reached # 45 in 1/81) and “Car Trouble” (3/80 reached # 33 in 1/81) singles were re-issued.

After Adam Ant acquired the rights to the album, it was re-released by Epic Records in 1983, at the peak of his popularity, with new cover artwork similar to that of Friend Or Foe. This angered many fans because some of the tracks had been remixed and two lyrically controversial songs, “Catholic Day” (about John F. Kennedy) and “Day I Met God,” were deleted, although they are arguably two of the album’s highlights.

The album was re-released in the United Kingdom in 1995 with its original black and white artwork and all songs intact, although retaining the running order of the 1983 version. It was finally released in the United States in 2001.

First CD was AC/DC- Back in Black

First CD single was Jane’s Addiction- Been Caught Stealing

I’ve still got the CD’s but the album and 7 inch have long gone (unfortunately)
