I remember, many years ago, a guy joining our office. He was truly obnoxious and rubbed everyone up the wrong way from the off with the result that hardly anyone talked to him unless they had to and he never got invited for an after-work drink. It obviously got to him then one day he exploded “why won’t any of you ignorant b@stards talk to me? It’s because I’m Asian isn’t it? isn’t it? come on admit it!”
The office went quiet and then a voice piped up “no, it’s because you’re an obnoxious little prick.” The guy who said it was our blind audio typist who didn’t know that he was Asian…Because they told me, they also said that I had a ‘posh’ voice – not sure that comes into the category of ‘class’, but there you go! Just for your info. the only person I know who is black in this region of France IS black and he is brill
oooooooooooo Wordsy, strong words! I will just let you know that I worked in an office with 6 black women who wouldn’t talk to me…………..it wasn’t until I said F U C K when I dropped a pen or something 4 weeks into the job that they decided I was ok. Just thought I would point that out ie. typing what I have, and lived in London for years! I am still not racist, and two of them are still good friends of mine!

We are bogged down with trying to please people and our daily responsibilities. There are few happy people who live by those words.
They are fine words Certain… and like anc I like to think I am my own person… and I do live my life by my own rules.. but being married and bringing up children is inhibiting.. which of us truly has the luxury of following our own path where ever it takes us?… I had little people who depended on me … and as a woman you become secondary…especially as a working mum I was too busy keeping house and home together.
Nice words Mr Jobs.. but I expect he had a wife at home whilst he lived his dream :D

Actually anc I wasn’t meaning to sound discontented with my life…. I was being a realist… its most women’s lot isn’t it? I loved being a mum when my kids were tiny and I dont regret putting my ambitions aside … not in the least. I was trying to say…..practicalities inhibit our freedoms,…. hope that makes sense :D
