i remember the game, don’t remember much after it
I think England can beat any team out there, too much focus on wayne playing though, we don’t need him yet, Owen will score a couple tonight
I dont think this is gonna be a walkover for England tonight Soulie. I think England will win, but Trinidad wont be any pushovers.
15 June, 2006 at 10:15 am #225983If Sweden and England both win today then Sweden could still win the group by beating England next week.
England will want to avoid Germany until the Quarter’s at least. The Germans arent a shadow of their team of 10-15 years ago, but their effiency is still there, and with home advantage they’re gonna be hard to beat.14 June, 2006 at 9:35 pm #225083@*Sian* wrote:

I have no problems with anyone … I am british .. I said this was boring… just had a bit of banter to show our MaryJ the english hater we do have a sense of humour
now now Sian… where did I type I hate the English,,,,
im doin a JR HARTLEY…………. lol
I am with Pikey… you scots know nothing but what the scotman writes about the english. When I am in Spain or anywhere in europe for that matter, i listen to what the locals say, they talk of the few that spoil it for everyone else, nothing about the english people as a whole.
It is ok for everyone else to have faith in their team but the english. Weird huh?I know that we in England love any of the british Isles to win but as Owen stated, it isn’t quite the same story from the Scots, Irish or the Welsh.
You stand proud, why can’t we?
“I know that we in England love any of the British Isles to win”. =;
A good percentage of England fans dont want Scotland to win either. Most of them have a quiet chuckle when we fall to the latest minnow team who’ve managed to embarass Scotland.

hi people..
excuse me for being off the level here…but i don’t really know what he argument is all about.
i don’t know what the big fuss is all about between the Scots..and the British.?????i don’t follow any “team” in particular, i just like the game.
(and no…i still don’t know what the off side rule is..  )when i was growing up, the world cup was always about the “best” team. you know..the team that was best at playing football…
every body enjoyed the game, now it seems its all about gloating.
its gone nasty now.i know for a fact there were lots and lots of Irish people that would cheer on different teams in the world cup, but now its all nasty..and they wont admit that another team is good at the game.
the fans seem to have taken over and made it nasty.
i know there is a lot of banter going on here between the Scot’s and the British.
im not making shyte for anybody…but everybody that has been slagging the English team,,,,well that’s just carrying on with the nastiness…
as much as you hate it..
the English are a good strong team. they have the potential to be the best in the world.
Germany are good,,,but they are too obsessed with winning the game.
just watch England and Germany play…..England are playing because they love the game,,,,,(with the exception of David B…he wants to win win win.)…..Germany….they feck themselves up because they are too obsessed with winning.
sorry..that’s my rant over for the day
Compare Germany and England’s record in World Cups’ over the past 40 years and it dosent look like Germany have “fecked themselves up”.
Stick to washing the dishes honey. :wink:14 June, 2006 at 10:26 am #225077@Ow£n Ka$h wrote:

now IF,,…. the shoe was on the other Foot… if Scotland was their at the world Cup… im dam sure the English certainly widnae be supportin us eh….. think aboot it its not NATURAL……
Ah, but that’s just the thing, Mary, most of the English would support Scotland (or Wales or Ireland) if the situation was reversed – without a second thought. Most English are just baffled it doesn’t work t’other way ’round.
Call me naive or stupid, but up until the year 2000 I would have supported Scotland, had they qualified and England hadn’t. Or even if England were knocked out by Scotland, I’d still have supported Scotland (naturally).
Unfortunately I was in a bar in Egypt, watching England lose to Romania with a bunch of Jocks.
It sickened me to hear them cheer when Romania scored.
They shut up when they saw the look I gave them.Don’t talk to me about friendly banter!
That was one of the great moments Owen. If I remember correctly Phil Neville pulled down the Romania player for a penalty with a few minutes to go thus sending England home. :D It then went back to the studio to show Gary Lineker’s face. :D
All kidding aside guys if the English commentators and to a certain degree the English fans could find a little humility then I wouldent want them to lose. I could never cheer England on, but I wouldent want them to lose if they didnt have the (misplaced) arrogance.
Anyway’s cmon Trinidad and Tobago!
14 June, 2006 at 12:27 am #225774It looks like it’s shaping up to be Germany-England in the Quarters now. Unless I misread my super free World Cup wallchart.
Free with the Daily Record. It allows you to mark in the scores, which I’ve been dutifully doing. Man I’ve really gotta get a life. :oops:14 June, 2006 at 12:23 am #225773Yeah, but unless Ronaldo goes on a super crash diet and loses 20 pounds in the next few weeks I dont see him having much of an impact. It was horrific to look at the shape of him. He’s way fatter than John Hartson.
14 June, 2006 at 12:15 am #225600Yup, he’s assured of legendary status at Man U. Dont think he could be considered a Celtic legend after 13 games, but I’m sure the young players learned a lot from him.
13 June, 2006 at 8:16 pm #225072Could have fooled me. Miserable gits.
12 June, 2006 at 5:58 pm #225594Sad day indeed. :(
