I like cheesecake but rarely eat it. I’ve made my own chesecake once or twice and nice it was too. Cheesecake wrestling would be fun too, depending on the flavour and topping.

Bassingbourne55 replied to the topic secondlife in the board Off topic chat 17 years, 1 month ago
One criticism of Second Life is that for newcomers it isn’t particularly user-friendly and can be confusing. If you take a bit of time and invest a bit of mental effort in learning the ropes, it becomes rewarding and addictive. The initial impression might be that it consisits of a small space inhabited by a limited selection of standardised…[Read more]

Has anyone got any Papua-New Guinean recipes for man pie?
PS – does anyone know if it is illegal under UK laws for a British citizen to eat swan meat when abroad?

Bassingbourne55 replied to the topic The world-famous Red Arrows have been banned from appearing in the board Getting serious 17 years, 1 month ago
I think this depends on precedent. If it has not been normal practice in recent years to have military displays in connection with the Olympics, then not having the Red Arrows would be acceptable. But if this is a new BritPC idea, then it’s wrong. Th Red Arrows are possibly the finest aerobatic display team in the world – on the other hand…[Read more]

I like dogs and cats. But I’m definitely a CAT person. I just love them. As I say, dogs are for walkies, cats are for laps!

I’m a Second Life ‘resident’ – have been for ages. It’s what you make of it. It’s not a game as such and that confuses a lot of beginners. It’s a virtual world where you can be what you like, do what you like and make what you like, within the limitations of the system. For me it’s the ability to create stuff in 3D and texture it that’s the…[Read more]

Perhaps Jonathan King could be his producer!
Actually the best thing either of them could do is retire from public life.

I find Graham Norton funny and irritating at the same time. Whether he’s gay or not is of no consequence to me. I’m not gay, but if I was I feel pretty sure I still wouldn’t fancy him!

As an EU supporter I accept that the treaty in its current form should be shelved now. The EU should take a breather. But we should convert to the euro – I still think that. And EU flag should also be kept mainly because it’s a nice flag. OK, the Nazi or Soviet flags might have been visually OK, but they stood for something evil, the EU flag…[Read more]

Personally I only drive with zero alcohol or near zero alcohol. I don’t drink much anyway, just the odd small glass of lager, cider or wine. By ‘near zero’ I mean no more than residual trace like if I’d eaten a liqueur chocolate or had a small lager several hours previously.
I think we should have zero tolerance of dangerous driving. The…[Read more]

I used to be a lorry driver years ago. It’s a hard job with long hours. However tanker drivers are the elite among drivers and are better paid than most and get better conditons. Driving lorries can be enjoyable but it’s also very stressful.
Too often transport bosses see their drivers simply as an accessory needed in order to make their…[Read more]

I do mean Fujimori. I never said he was a nice man, though!
I just read a letter in ‘The Week’ magazine from a reader, pointing out that if Barak Obama had been standing for president in his country of origin, Kenya, the people would be talking about the possibility of Kenya having its first white president!

I don’t think we in Britain are 30-40 years away from being capable of electing a black prime minister. I think a black prime minister could be elected today if there was a suitable black contender. If we had an Obama or a Rice, they’d be in with a good chance.
But I never saw the likes of Diane Abbott or Paul Boeteng being prime minister…[Read more] -

assume the argument presupposes that if you’re black and american, you’ll vote obama? As opposed to saying, you’re American and who do you vote for.
No, of course not all African-Americans vote Democrat. Colin Powell was a Republican (and no doubt still is!). People speculated that he could become USA’s first black president only he decided…[Read more]

But to be honest, I think the whole ‘carbon footprint’ malarkey is a big fat con.
I tend to agree. The real crisis looming is fuel scarcity as fuel stars to run low. That is why human induced climate change, if it is happenning, will be halted. But I did vote tree hugger!
