I think you will find it is mostly blacks that get shot in friendly fire cases. When the sergeant major shouts “GET DOWN” they all stand up and start dancing.

I can see the attraction of legal action for him, after all it is also a form of gambling, with financial implications depending on whether he wins or loses.
hardly the best way of treating that particular addiction
Exactly right. I understand that this guy asked William Hill to close his account but then allowed him to open another one…irresponsible of them yes, BUT, this is where we go round in circles because it still comes back to the fact that HE went in there and opened another one. YES they allowed him too, but he still didn,t have to do it did he? At some stage this man has got to start taking responsibility for his own actions and STOP going in betting shops. Has he stopped? Or is he actually getting professional help now? Like you said, this is another form of gambling isn,t it? Supposing he looses, is he going to take another gamble and appeal? If he wins, and he decides it,s not enough, is he going to fight for more? He,s got to start helping himself and stop passing the buck. It,s too easy these days to blame someone else for everything that goes wrong in your life, but ultimately, YOU make the choice, just like he did when he walked into that betting shop. Next thing you know he,ll be in the news moaning about the National Lottery because he,s got addicted to scratch cards. I still hope he looses, and I,m NOT betting on it.

14 February, 2008 at 10:18 am #312358Yeah ok I see your point, but surely if that particular betting shop had refused to let him bet, he,d have just gone somewhere else and opened up another account?
It,s just my way of thinking I suppose. In my opinion if no one holds a gun to your head and physically MAKES you do it, you have to take some responsiblity for yourself surely? Yes I see that he,d asked them NOT to let him bet and they apparantly still allowed him to do so, but again, he didn,t HAVE to go in there did he? Hence my point about him taking some responsibility for his own actions. It,s the same kind of thing with credit cards. People manage to get hold of numerous ones and end up owing thousands, then blame the credit card company. Again, they didn,t force them to apply for it, and certainly didn,t make them use it, so people still have to take some of the responsibility for thier actions. It will be interesting to see what the outcome of this case is.13 February, 2008 at 7:57 pm #312179@terry wrote:
