Cath I’ve just done a quick google, apparently potato starch can be found in most supermarkets but may be labelled as potato flour or starch flour. You can also get it from health food shops in the gluten-free section but no doubt you’ll pay more there than in the supermarket!
Potato flour
Potatoes are steamed, dried, then ground to give this silky-smooth white flour. It gives wonderful crispness to ingredients when they are coated in it before being shallow- or deep-fried. It is gluten-free, and is sometimes called potato starch. From Oriental supermarkets or Waitrose. If unavailable, try rice flour or cornflour.Sorry it’s taken me a while to reply, but as I’ve been through 4 earthquakes between 9.00am and 1.00 pm, thought I’d spend the rest of the day out of the house.
Luckily there was no damage done where I live.
Here’s hoping there won’t be more during the night :(Anyway … back to baking.
jen jen is right about the potato starch (potato flour).
My oven is an electric non-fan one, if you’ve got an electric oven with a fan, use the same temperature…gas marks that jen jen are correct.
Got another easy peasy recipe of a tea loaf, which is delicious … I’ll post it later.
Happy Baking
blossom i hope you and yours stay safe, and thank you so much for taking the time to post xxxxxxx

180 in a non-fan assisted oven is gas mark 4, 150 is gas mark 2.
180 in a fan assisted oven is gas mark 6, 150 is gas mark 3.So you need Rose and Blossom to say whether their recipes are for fan assisted or non fan assisted ovens.
And I’d also like to know where you get potato starch please :D
oh goodness jen you jjust confused me altogether lol…..
so the questions to rosepetal and to blossom are you using a fan assisted oven?

Yes I have Cath!
Simple.
6oz of self raising flour
6oz of sugar
6oz of margerine
3 eggs
grated rind of a lemonMix all that together anyway you like.
Bung in a loaf tin lined with baking parchment.
Cook at 180 degrees till a skewer poked in it comes out clean. (About 40 minutes)In the meantime
Mix juice of two lemons with loads of granulated sugar in a jug.
Then as soon as you get take cake out of oven and still boiling hot spread it all over the top and sides of cake, which will then go crispy when cold.If you want to fiddle pr1ck the cake all over five minutes before you take it out with a skewer so the drizzle sinks into it.
Hey presto Lemon Drizzle, simple and lush !
And never fails. If you want something posher let me know !
that sounds wonderful lol will let u know xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Diane has been living with cancer for a number of months , on friday evening she went downhill rapidly and died on saturday night at 11pm.
unfortunately due to a communication error i beleived she had died on friday night and posted that …….for which i apologise.
However, i am now anxious this doesnt turn into ‘all about me’ this is a thread for one of the loveliest , funniest, most compassionate person who i was very priviledged to have known and have as a freind.
