13 July, 2017 at 9:56 am #1060648Interesting…the song by Dr and the Medics entitled Spirit in the Sky implies that when one dies ..he’s going on up to the spirit in the sky. lol Implying that spirits inhabit another realm from humans and are not the same. They are not made of flesh and blood but spirit…..what ever that may be.
I don’t think you can cite a song title as evicence

12 July, 2017 at 11:44 pm #1060614When she appears, does she appear around the same age as you now or when she passed away?
She’s always 10 years old, wearing the same clothes.
12 July, 2017 at 11:40 pm #1060612How many times have you seen what you believe to be your sister and how clearly ?
More times than I can count. But her exact manifestation is inconsistant. Sometimes its just a voice that doesn’t seem to come from any direction, other times I can see her as clearly as any living person. Sometimes she will respond if I talk to her, other times she will ignore me.
12 July, 2017 at 11:15 pm #1060608I’d also be interested to hear your definition of ” a spirit”
The closest thing I can give to a scientific definition would be electrical activity in the brain. The thing that differentiates a living body from a dead one. Although for my hypothesis to be true there must be something more than this to life.
I have never seen another ghost, and most people never see any during their entire lives. Which would suggest they are very rare, and normally a spirit can’t exist past the death of it’s body.
My sister’s ghost only appears in proximity to me, and is not tied to a specific location. Because she is my twin, then the most likely explanation is that we share the same spirit, that was divided into two bodies, and it is this that allows her to exist outside of a body, as part of it is still contained within mine.
12 July, 2017 at 11:01 pm #1060599My point is that unless you have some kind of spiritual perspective , a ” spirit” doesn’t exist, so for your theory to hold credence there would have to be an element of spirituality implying an afterlife. The fact you have seen your sister after death or a manifestation of her is by definition ” afterlife” ..what else can it be if it’s continuing on in some form after death?
I don’t really why there must be an afterlife if spirits exist. If you read what I proposed then you would have seen where I said that the fact that she is my identical twin is important in explaining why she still continues to exist after death.
12 July, 2017 at 10:35 pm #1060589The fact you are talking about a spirit is in itself outside the remit of what is normally consistent of an atheist viewpoint. If there is a spirit that exists after death as you imply , then that represents an afterlife which again does not reflect an atheist stance. For eg I’m an atheist but if I saw what I viewed to be a ghost that would change everything.
The viewpoint that makes someone an atheist is the belief that there isn’t any gods.
I have only observed that one ghost exists, and I have described a set of rules by which it can exist but other ghosts don’t. To suggest there is a god or an afterlife from this is jumping to conclusions for which I have no evidence.
I can’t prove those rules, but I also know of nothing that would disprove them.
12 July, 2017 at 10:01 pm #1060569The only ghost I can verify the existance of is that of my sister.
The verifcation for this is that my daughter has described talking to a girl matching my sister’s apperance. I have never told her I had a sister, much less what she looked like.
I have also seen her on multiple occasions, normally I would suggest that it was some form of PTSD, or similar issue. But I can’t explain why my daughter would have seen the same thing.
