Jeez, the’y probably have to change their user name or something equally drastic.
Nope, I refuse to change my name again! [-(
Last night myself and another chatter were accused of being disrespectful of the dead because we dared to not join in. The other chatter said that she didn’t like his music when he was alive, she’s not going to like it any more now he’s dead and it’s being rammed down her throat. My comment was that I liked his music but I didn’t think his death warranted the amount of attention that it’s getting. Nothing contentious from either of us, simply expressing our opinions, but suddenly there are threatening pm’s from people I’ve never spoken to in my years of chatting here. After 5 minutes I had to block pm’s.
For heavens sake people, get a sense of balance and perspective, a good singer and showman has died but it’s not the end of the world as we know it. Someone expressing an alternative opinion to yours is NOT disrespecting the dead – if you want to see that in action, then you should see some of the “jokes” doing the rounds by text.
On Sunday I was at the local Race for Life, several of my group were walking in memory of a dear friend who died last November at 48 leaving 2 young children behind. All around us were people with signs on their backs saying who they were running for. There were pictures of children who had died of cancer, and children (the youngest was 6) who were walking in memory of their mothers. There were people with 6 or 7 names on their signs, all family members. Now THAT is tragic.
The world is a crazy place….. :-
(wonders….what could be equally as drastic as changing your user name?  )
