Keeping somebody in prison for thirty years and then trotting them out to be executed does not seem like justice to me.
What would be justice?
You’re putting me on the spot here. It’s just an open discussion to find out what other people think about it.
Oops sorry
I will be honest, I have mixed feeling about the death penalty.
On the one hand I consider life to be precious and not to be wasted. I can’t hold with the “eye for an eye” thinking. The death penalty also takes away a person’s opportunity to realise their error, to be rehabilitated, to maybe do some good in the world.
On the other hand I look at psychopaths, people who can never be rehabilitated, never released into society and I start to waver.
As for being kept in prison for 30 years and then executed, every prisoner has the right of appeal and that can be drawn out for many years and often is. Who wouldn’t fight for their life to the bitter end?
