Think the joke might have sailed just a tad over your head there :D

26 November, 2007 at 7:42 pm #293864I have to echo those sentiments, until Smith arrived Hutton had been blowing hot and cold with his performances and his temprament can still be called into question – nothing wrong with that but he needs to learn to compose himself when the red mist descends. Wasn’t far from a red card against Falkirk.
Another year or two of good football at domestic and international level would serve him well but players are always going to be in demand when they’re playing their best football.
26 November, 2007 at 6:17 pm #293816I think Group 6 will be the one to watch – looks like an interesting three horse race but I can’t see Kazakhstan posing any great threat to Ukraine and Croatia when it comes to the crunch
On paper, Scotland look to have a decent group but we enjoy making it hard for ourselves and there are a few potential banana skins in there.
26 November, 2007 at 5:56 pm #293822I’m sure Craig Gordon’s had better weeks in his life

Even more glaring than Beckham not starting was deciding to throw an inexperienced Goalie into the fray in the last game of Qualifying. They’d have been far better starting with James. Also they started with a lone striker in a home game who was given little or no support.
Worst England performance I’ve ever seen in my life. I thought Croatia were a nippy little side though, and they could have scored a few more. They looked dangerous every counter attack they had.
I certainly didn’t expect to see Carson in there. Looks like Steve’s on the way out now, England have had a few dodgy results and performances but I think this is one too many. Can’t see many fans backing him either since he wasn’t the man they wanted in the first place.
21 November, 2007 at 10:45 pm #279690I can hardly hear feck all in my left ear and everything sounds like I’m underwater. Sod’s law that it had to happen when I start back at work.
Sod’s law part 2: The phone in the office where I work sometimes doesn’t ring for weeks but today, when I can barely hear, everybody decides they want to talk to me!
And someone messed up when they were refilling the vending machine. I put my money in and instinctively keyed in the number for Irn Bru – it’s been the same since we got the thing – only to discover a can of feckin diet waiting for me at the bottom. I’ve been telling this story to anyone who doesn’t want to hear it and not one of them has been sympathetic to my trauma (telling them that it ruined my day probably didn’t help)
Other than the fact that I got soaked walking to work this morning and Saturday, it’s been a good week.
21 November, 2007 at 10:30 pm #293610I think this showed that England are virtually a one man team. They didn’t offer much if anything in the first half then Beckham comes on and it was like watching a different for large spells.
Probably would have been different if Rooney, Terry & Owen were playing but with the way Croatia played they deserved to win that one. I thought Croatia might have just accepted 2-2 as they didn’t need a win but they were determined to finish on a high.
21 November, 2007 at 9:58 pm #293607To those who laughed at us on Saturday, all I can say is ‘he who laughs last feckin enjoyed it’

18 November, 2007 at 9:32 pm #293233I thought we played pretty well in the second half though it was always going to be a huge task. The way the officials handled the game was poor for both sides. Barry Ferguson did look to be offside and the decision for the free kick at the end was just incredible.
It’s a compliment from England fans if they think Scotland are good enough to be laughed at for losing to a side like Italy. At least Israel have helped you qualify, though if you’re that good then you shouldn’t need it.
