Yep, you’re all right- I must have got it so wrong
This practise, the “euthasnia” of severely disabled infants (and adults) was the ethos used by Adolf Hitler to support his creation of the Aryan race
I wouldnt suggest anyone on here would prescribe following a Nazi doctrine but judging by the response here, it obviously has its supporters
So who draws the line then and what illness…cerebral palsy perhaps? ex meningoccal septacaemia children (blind deaf and prones to fits) etc etc- quality of life is nil (according to those on here) so lets just send em of to sleep cos it suages our consciences and makes us feel better cos its the “right thing to do”-
– perhaps we could sterilise known carriers (ie downs adults etc) to ensure “they” don’t reproduce
And Kevin…if you read YOUR post again…you even have the audacity to ask whether murdering a child…sorry, putting it out of its misery (in your eyes) is really murder? (3rd line in case you’d forgotten)
Its a “non existence” in your eyes but NOT to the parents and not to the child
(Sorry Slayer, but you mentioned both “Adolf Hitler” AND “Nazis” in the same post … you lose the debate !! …….. Ed)
what a liberal
for once i agree with old big ED27 April, 2008 at 8:21 am #331761@bat wrote:
If, when a woman is pregnant, she discovers that her baby is going to be born severly disabled, ie blind, deaf and in constant pain with zero quality of life, then probably so would I, but just supposing the triple test hadn,t been avaliable and your child turned out to be disabled, what would you have done then? What do you think of the recent case in the news of the mother who, allegedly, killed her 22 year old son and hid his body in a suitcase for weeks, and then hung herself because she couldn,t handle the guilt of what she had done?
its difficult
if my child had downs i would love her or him all the more
not that i’m dismissing the all consuming role that is for the parents
i’m talking about the case you highlighted
i would never let my child suffer if i had the choice
as regards the mother the depths of her despair only she clearly knew
its tragic she felt that was the only option available to her27 April, 2008 at 8:02 am #331759your missing my point
my empathy towards her plight is boundless
when my wife was pregnant for the last time we were offered the triple test
we refused it because no matter what , it was our child
and i dont say that lightly
in this extreme case ,where there is no hope just suffering
as hard as it may be
if it was my call i would choose the ending of my childs life
i believe as a parent you protect your child from suffering at all costs
i would of made that call27 April, 2008 at 7:20 am #139642@sharongooner wrote:

Ignorance, noun
“the want of knowledge in general, or in relation to a particular subject;”
Got any severely disabled kids Kevin? Know what its like to walk a mile in their shoes?
As I said, ignorance beyond contempt
To suggest murdering a child because you think it would be “better off”- yep- my post is exactly right and summed you up to a tee
if you read what i put tiny brain
the second line said its to late now
my point is euthenasia is appropriate
its crueller to allow such suffering in my not so humble opinion
what a self righteous berk you are27 April, 2008 at 6:22 am #332067@*GG* wrote:
