If that is your tongue Gaz..you have some serious medical issues!

The reason for the inquiry is to ascertain whether it was an illegal war, and.. yup it was.

Whether it was a justifiable illegal war or not is kind of the point the rest of us want to make, but there are rules to prevent hitler-like takeovers of other countries. At least I assume that the rules were made after WW2.

There is no doubt at all in my mind that Saddam Hussein and his regime were thugs. And there is also no doubt in my mind that when it suited the US to have strong personal links with him (because of Iran etc), then they ignored his track record on human rights.

Its hypocrisy pure and simple. This country should never have gone along with it.

And PB, accepting that the UN did go into Iraq with us, at what point did they consider they were kind of railroaded into it. It was the UN peacekeeping force that ended up there, but it was the US and the UK who actually moved on Iraq in the early stages.

You talk about other countries in Africa, the middle east and South America who actively suppress minority groups, and nothing is being done about them. So we are led back to……………oil.

It was all about oil. And that makes me sick. The world is running short of fossil fuels, and yet wars are being waged with thousands being killed instead of putting all that money (and we all know how costly war is) into finding alternative clean energy sources.

It was about finding a politically expedient way to remove someone who had become a liability from power, and keeping access to middle eastern oil supplies. But… the irony of that is that as a direct result both the UK and the US have had the worst recessions in nearly 100 years.

:) so he has decided on Pascal’s Wager has he? He is hoping that if God exists, he/she/it is a benevolent one.

Well, if there is a God, then there is very likely a Hell. And so shall he burn.

Sorry seems to be the hardest word – Bernie Taupinn

What have I got to do to make you love me
What have I got to do to make you care
What do I do when lightning strikes me
And I wake to find that you’re not there
What do I do to make you want me
What have I got to do to be heard
What do I say when it’s all over
And sorry seems to be the hardest word
    It’s sad, so sad
    It’s a sad, sad situation
And it’s getting more and more absurd
    It’s sad, so sad
Why can’t we talk it over
    Oh it seems to me
That sorry seems to be the hardest word
What do I do to make you love me
What have I got to do to be heard
What do I do when lightning strikes me
What have I got to do
What have I got to do
When sorry seems to be the hardest word

Bernie strikes again………..he is one hell of a lyricist.

Don’t let the sun go down on me – Bernie Taupin

I can’t light no more of your darkness
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white
I’m growing tired and time stands still before me
Frozen here on the ladder of my life
Too late to save myself from falling
I took a chance and changed your way of life
But you misread my meaning when I met you
Closed the door and left me blinded by the light

Don’t let the sun go down on me
Although I search myself, it’s always someone else I see
I’d just allow a fragment of your life to wander free
But losing everything is like the sun going down on me

I can’t find, oh the right romantic line
But see me once and see the way I feel
Don’t discard me just because you think I mean you harm
But these cuts I have they need love to help them heal

    Good riddance I say !!!
Bloody gits ruining these boards posting purile topics like …PB is a coont! (particularly when it hasn’t been established if he really is a coont or what a coont is anyway, and if there is such a thing would it be a bad thing if PB actually was one.. etc. etc. et al).

As for the regulars leaving………….pete is right, people come and go, and that is how it should be. God help us if we have to let a flipping message board know every time we decide to go to morrisons for a coffee!

erm…. just so you know, i’m off to asda to nick a chicken later!

a friend of mine is having a loft conversion and a new central heating system to replace the victorian one they were using. They have been without heating or hot water for 3 weeks!!! and its going to snow on Monday (allegedly).

She keeps turning up here for hot showers and just to sit in the warm!

hmmm as far as taking other things for granted. I think a lot of us take our health for granted. Well, those of us that are well. Being really ill for any length of time is dreadful, and some people suffer far more than anyone can possibly imagine. My heart goes out to those who are in constant pain and discomfort.

Jane Austen would love it. She was always a feisty bint and loved whims and inconsistences and a lovely juicy bit of gossip……..not forgetting the nonsense of course, you cannot forget the nonsense.
