    Jen are you sure your friend specified an Italian speaker? If he did then that is not racist, however if he specified an Italian National IE a person born in Italy or of Italian extraction then that would be deemed as racist.

    The justification being that many people who are fluent Italian speakers and are not necessarily from Italy

    You have my sympathy and empathy Cath having done the same thing recently with a much younger man, both me and my sister held his hand as he died. I was at his funeral on Friday and I beamed with pride as my two children (now grown) recited a poem they had written about their happy recollections of their favourite Uncle, very moving. I’m sure if he was looking down he would have been so proud too. I wish you strength.
