Hmmm. Something’s wrong. I actually agree with you J about it was ok when the UK were painting the map of the World red but it’s not ok now we are being “invaded.”
Would we have so many Indian or African ppl coming here to live if there had been no British Raj or The Scramble for Africa?
Would we have so many ppl from European countries coming here to live if we hasn’t poked our noses into their affairs?
The English language is spoken around the World and possibly mandatory to learn in many countries. So of course ppl are more likely to come here to live! They can speak the language so they can integrate.

Part of the open door policy is that the English can go and live in any EU country.
If I had a pound for everytime I heard an English person say they would love to live in Spain, or France or Italy but don’t because they can’t speak the language and won’t learn it, then I’d be considerably better off than I am now.
English I believe is spoken in more countries than any other language. We used to have an Empire but now it’s called a Commonwealth. I guess it’s pay back time for when “our flag floated over many oceans.
Well that’s another part of the theory that he didn’t die in 1977. Elvis apparently had a mischievious sense of humour so it’s been said it would have appealed to him to have the King die whilst falling from his throne.

I can speak a bit of Jamaican patrois as well as English.

So are you saying that it’s ok to be taught to speak other languages at school, but it’s not ok to speak them before you go to school? :shock:
