It’s a political crime, the state are asking him to enforce their laws, he’s not a policeman, nor a criminal. Nor is smoking a criminal offence, nor is it illegal.

So that makes him a political prisoner for not doing the diktats of the state.

It’s an offence in a public place and he positively encouraged it he stuck notices on the tables ffs, you cant decide to flout a law because you dont agree with it, and when he was prsecuted for that he REFUSED to pay the fine. Again i’ll say it should have been left to individual pubs and breweries to give people the choice, and i did read that tobacco sales went up in Scotland. I would imagine because you cant take your glass outside the pub (and it may be bloody cold) so you smoke half a fag throw the rest away and get back in pub, but you’ve only had half a nicotine fix so your next comes quicker.

How could he encourage it when he wasn’t there when it happened?

Nick Hogan was convicted of a political crime and imprisoned for being unable to pay the fines, which were imposed by a court that was perfectly aware he would not be able to pay them. They knew, when they imposed the fines, that they were going to jail him for non-payment and that was always the intention. To make an example. He did not refuse to pay. He was unable to pay.

A political prisoner in a debtor’s prison. In the UK. The antismokers, made this happen. Their drooling spite has made this country less free than Cuba. And you really believe this technique will only be used against smokers, don’t you?

That is what we must fight. Injustice. Soviet-style show trials based on oppressive and unfair laws. It must stop now because it is already an offence to ‘not agree with the law’ on smoking, and it is a trivial matter to extend that to ‘not agreeing with the government’ on anything.

Nick Hogan, 43, was sentenced to six months in prison for refusing to pay a fine imposed for flouting the legislation.
Two years ago Hogan, who ran two pubs in Bolton, became the first landlord convicted of breaking the law for allowing his customers to routinely light up in his bars.
At the hearing, in January 2008, magistrates were told Hogan held a ‘mass light-up’ in his two pubs, the Swan Hotel and Barristers’ Bar, in Bolton, on the day the smoking ban came into force in July 2007.
He was visited by inspectors from the local authority, who found letters taped to pub tables advising customers they had the ‘freedom to choose whether or not to smoke’.
They also saw regulars smoking on five separate occasions.
Hogan, who has since sold his lease for both the pubs, was cleared of one count of failing to prevent his customers from smoking and four further charges of obstructing council officers.

In terms of their duty, they have sworn to uphold the law and protect the innocent….. Not only have they failed on many occassions to uphold the law, many of them distort the law.
Its not a case of painting them all with the same brush, its a case of protecting yourself from those that do abuse their power, these people who abuse their power far outnumber those who do not, i speak from personal experience…. my attitude toward these people will in no way affect their duties, i on the whole live within the law, i have a habit which in terms of the law is illegal, the use of a naturally grown herb is not illegal in my view, i will carry on with my habit, i know that i disturb no-one and i break no laws…my experience the other day could have been far worse had i been in possession of that herb……that classification in itself is an abuse of power….they have no right to classify a naturally grown substance and criminalise those who of their own free will choose to administer it to themselves…….

Is there an award for the biggest load of selfish bullshit twaddle post cause that one has to win it.

yeah you’ve had experience with most police officers on every force in the country haven’t you… ooops no you haven’t .. exactly how many have you experienced to judge that most are abusing their power ?

the use of a naturally grown herb is not illegal in my view, i will carry on with my habit, i know that i disturb no-one and i break no laws…my experience the other day could have been far worse had i been in possession of that herb……that classification in itself is an abuse of power….they have no right to classify a naturally grown substance and criminalise those who of their own free will choose to administer it to themselves…

It’s illegal therefore views dont come into it.. they have every right to classify it as illegal whether you or anyone else likes it… tell me does that go for substances from opium as well ?

Any arrest involves 2 to 3 hrs paperwork for two officers, some of these officers are frustrated as hell i’d imagine but just go ahead and paint them all with the same brush, only dont object when you get the same treatment for being a muslim or black or any other minority

Cause the police never get abused, spat at or anything at football matches eh ? Would you like their job at a match, hell they dont even get to watch it. Like anything else some individuals are tossers but what would happen if there was no police presence?
