I volunteered to help with the homeless a couple of years ago over the Christmas holidays and couldn’t believe it when I was told that I wasn’t needed as I wasn’t qualified to work unsupervised and that their insurance policy wouldn’t cover me, I was only wanting to help wash up or dish out food fgs. The experience really put me off wanting to volunteer for anything else. They didn’t even have the decency to let me know I had to keep ringing and emailing them to see what was happening and if I remember rightly it was only a day or so before Christmas Eve when they let me know.

I am already qualified in lots of aspects of the role I’ll be doing, just got to have me CRB check done and I am off! 8)

Cat it’s a pity it didn’t pay off for you, you know how it is within organisations, all the red tape makes things very hard going.

Well…………couple of week ago the police knocked on me door to ask if they could
do a survellance in here, as they were expecting, or got a tip off for something, but
wouldnt say what! so I said (No way) I gotta live round here, and to try the next door neighbour, so cutting a long story short 130am this morning, blue flashing lights and
engins running woke me..got up to peek through the blinds, and there were about 8 police
in chemical outfitts etc, going into the flats, which are houses made in to flats across
the road..stood there about hour, but nothing was happining..they went in a never came out.
I went back too bed, woke this morning, they`r still there :shock: But no tape, no evacuation, just walking in and out with bags…Gawd knows!! went about lunchtime today,
and I still aint none the wiser. Was a bit of excitment though, its normally very quiet
round here..hopefully find out a bit more tomorrow…NOW Iv missed corrie!! :wink:
