Not sure I believe in god (that god depends on the religion you follow) but, I do consider myself to have christian values. Having said that I guess I air more on the spiritual side in times of trouble.

Not sure why people believe but I should imagine it brings comfort to a lot of peeps in difficult times. I dare say everybody has their own reasons.

Surely the basis of the religion issue is basically knowing right from wrong isn’t it ? :-k
