A mate of mine went to Budapest two years ago Sian.. he loved it!
I’ve seen some pics and it looks mighty pretty!

Much like the other well known eastern European cities it has it’s old town / new town combo ; the fact that it’s actually two seperate historical cities that became blended into one in the 19th century gives it a unique edge over most.. innit :D

I’ve been to another jewel of the east.. Prague , and apparently Budapest has just as much to offer in terms of beauty and culture, yet thankfully has yet to be touched by the extortionist prices of it’s Czech counterpart!
Influences as diverse as the Ottomans, the Austrians and more recently the Germans and the Soviets should abound.

Not to mention the uber inexpensive nightlife :P
