Like many, I would love to see Senator Obama get a bash (although I would have prefered Mrs Clinton), yet I too have an uneasy inkling that he may just be pipped at the post. Nevertheless, I have given him my vote here – in hope more than expectation
As for the importance of the November 4th poll on this side of the pond and the notion of whether we should care enough at all to even take an opinion? – :-k – Hmm well, surely a complete dismissal of it’s significance would be dangerously myopic when one considers how American policy making decisions (whether liked or not) have profound impacts on the rest of the planet.
Indeed, one could argue that this crucially applies to the UK in particular with regard to foreign and financial policy, when one considers the British servicemen and women currently engaged in US led coalition conflicts and the precarious ramifications of the recent credit banking crunches? All of this eventually trickles down to come knocking (or beating) at one’s door. Such is the way of things when dealing with a Superpower that sets the economic trends others must realistically follow in some fashion or form.
Love or hate American politics.. but dismiss it’s importance at your peril.24 September, 2008 at 5:15 pm #166326Skittles.

Well, what with my fave clothing item being the Irish rugby top, what say you to a jersey swap at the end of proceedings? Quite a fetching trade methinks :P

Cold,
although covered by midnights blanket,
i lie on my narrow bed.
Sinking into its mossy depths,
I contemplate the events which have led me here.Pale in moonlight, i am the ghost that would walk
shadowy halls, although as far as i am aware
i am not dead.. Not in body, although
perhaps in spirit.I envy people with faith, the ability to believe,
in an unknown force, by which they live out their lives.
Maybe lack of faith was my downfall, my nemesis, my inability to
give anything a tangible meaning.Cold,
too many nights spent in the open.
I withdraw deeper, wrapping my blanket closer.
Hoping to emerge from my self made cocoon,
a brighter spirit, with wings of steel.Good poem 8)

Much worse. And as for pretentiousness… hmm :-k Maybe I’m wrong, but I can’t actually see where it aspires to be anything other than what it is – ie a simple self awareness exercise? Not an attempt at a groundbreaking philosophical mantra or anything?
