Well done!20 September, 2008 at 10:01 pm #201049:lol: Yeah Dawny, it is kinda odd innit?
Well.. it has been (and still is for many) a cause for much debate here since it was .. umm.. erected. It’s officially called The Spire , though most Dubliners call it The Spike (pronounced Spoike of course), and is quite a feat of construction and sculpture that has won many awards.
It’s curious reflective qualities can be quite beautiful, and in some way I suppose it symbolises a new, cosmopolitan, secular Ireland – whilst also placing the importance of Irish History into current aspirations.
The site on the main thoroughfare – O’Connell Street is just in front of the GPO (General Post Office), the headquarters for The Easter Rising of 1916, a monumental event in Irish History. It’s also where Nelson’s Pillar once stood, a symbol of British Rule that was blown up by the I.R.A. in 1966.
So, as I said, in many ways it represents a new aspirational Ireland.. surviving the nightmare of it’s past, yet signifying it’s importance.(Sorry, you asked 8-[ lol)

Pretentious… Moi? 8)
Anyroad.. I went with the second option, though at times it is borderline – what with some of the silly stuff nowadays.
I think it would be most odd of me to say Absolutely NOT, for if that were the case I could be wearing all manner of hilarious stuff – A fedora on top of a yellow cardigan on top of blue hose on top of green platforms for instance.. Hmm… then again :-k .Surely to TOTALLY dismiss the fashion of the current time or any time (eg any of the various “Retro” looks) would be a curious peculiarity , no?
19 September, 2008 at 11:19 pm #373287Thanks for the prompt reply Shazzle 8) .. TOTALLY agree with the Gooner Top Chic.. nice fitting indeed =P~ Uber Edible!!
